Job Description

The SURF Engineering Lead provides advanced technical leadership and subject‑matter expertise within subsea SURF engineering, leading large and complex multi‑disciplinary projects with accountability for critical engineering decisions. The role requires independent application of expert judgment across dynamic analysis, design verification and compliance with industry codes and internal engineering standards. Central to Oceaneering's delivery and growth strategy, the role serves as the primary technical authority and single point of contact for assigned business units, shaping functional technical strategy, mentoring engineers and SMEs and driving continuous improvements in engineering quality, analytical rigor, processes, and customer outcomes. Success is defined by the ability to translate complex engineering analyses into clear technical recommendations, influence engineering decisions across stakeholders and continuously evolve engineering practices in alignment with business and customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of subsea SURF engineers on dynamic analysis of flexible flowlines
  • Lead multiple projects at the same time, including large/complex projects involving multiple disciplines
  • Direct team of SURF engineers to enable them handle dynamic analysis projects effectively
  • Review work carried out by SURF engineers
  • Approve deliveries made by team
  • Ascertain compliance to established Engineering processes by functional or project teams assigned
  • Define functional processes and work towards continuous improvement
  • Act as account manager for one or more business units for subsea SURF projects
  • Communicate with business units to understand their design & analysis needs
  • Define scope of work and plan the jobs
  • Have resources allocated
  • Share regular updates about work with stakeholders
  • Monitor performance of the team on relevant key performance indicators
  • Identify growth opportunities for business and individuals
  • Participate/Lead the governance meetings with business units
  • Approve Engineering process documents
  • Approve timesheets of the assigned team members
  • Prepare & conduct technical trainings
  • Maintain performance records for team members & provide performance feedback about team members to line manager whenever needed
  • Develop & maintain individual & team level competency matrices
  • Identify individual training needs for the team
  • Lead the annual goal setting process for team members
  • Provide Engineering guidance to other disciplines
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and issues
  • Evaluate need of resource (people, software etc.) and provide recommendations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Civil/Ocean/Naval Engineering (or equivalent) with minimum 10 years of experience or Master's degree in Mechanical/Ocean/Naval Architecture Engineering (or equivalent) with minimum 8 years of experience.
  • Expert level knowledge on FEA and calculation for SURF Local and Global analysis and relevant CAE softwares (e.g. OrcaFlex, UFlex, ANSYS, RISA, Sesam etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of more than one relevant Mechanical industry codes/standards (e.g., ASME, DNV, API, AISC etc.)
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
