Job Description
The Engineer in Mechanical Maintenance for the Steel SMS department is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation, reliability, and efficiency of mechanical equipment. This role demands a proactive approach to preventive and breakdown maintenance, focusing on minimizing downtime and supporting production targets. The engineer will be responsible for troubleshooting and implementing continuous improvements in plant machinery. A key aspect of the role is to ensure that all mechanical systems are operating at optimal levels, contributing to the overall productivity of the plant. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance equipment performance and reliability. Additionally, the role involves maintaining compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations. The engineer will also be tasked with maintaining detailed maintenance records and reports, providing insights for future improvements. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency in all maintenance activities.
Principal Accountabilities
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance of SMS equipment such as furnaces ladles cranes conveyors and hydraulic systems to ensure optimal performancebr Handle breakdown maintenance efficiently to ensure quick restoration of equipment and minimize production downtimebr Monitor equipment health regularly and take corrective actions to prevent potential failuresbr Diagnose mechanical faults accurately and implement effective solutions to maintain equipment reliabilitybr Coordinate with electrical and automation teams for integrated troubleshooting to resolve complex issuesbr Maintain an inventory of spare parts and ensure the availability of critical components to avoid delays in maintenance activitiesbr Prepare and execute maintenance schedules ensuring timely completion of all planned activitiesbr Plan and manage shutdown activities and major overhauls to optimize maintenance processes and reduce downtimebr Ensure adherence to safety standards and company policies following proper lockouttagout LOTO proceduresbr Maintain compliance with statutory and environmental regulations to uphold the companys commitment to safety and sustainabilitybr Maintain detailed maintenance records logs and reports to track performance and identify areas for improvementbr Prepare daily and weekly maintenance reports and Management Information Systems MIS to provide insights into maintenance activitiesbr Analyze failure data to recommend improvements and implement Total Productive Maintenance TPM practicesbr Participate in root cause analysis RCA and corrective actions to drive continuous improvement and cost reduction
