Job Description
The Graduate Engineer Trainee in Quality Control at our Pipe Plant in Jhagadia will play a crucial role in supporting the quality assurance processes. This position is designed for fresh graduates or individuals with up to one year of experience who are eager to develop their skills in quality management within the steel industry. The role involves hands-on experience in inspecting and verifying the quality of raw materials, conducting in-process quality checks, and ensuring that finished goods meet industry standards. The trainee will be responsible for maintaining detailed documentation and reports, assisting in the preparation of Quality Management System documentation, and supporting internal audits. Additionally, the role requires active participation in quality improvement initiatives and adherence to safety and environmental standards. The ideal candidate will possess a foundational understanding of quality control principles and demonstrate strong communication and computer skills. This position offers a unique opportunity to grow within a dynamic and challenging environment, contributing to the overall quality objectives of the plant
Principal Accountabilities
Key Responsibilities
Inspection & Testing
Assist in incoming, in-process, and final inspection of steel pipes and raw materials. Support dimensional checks, visual inspection, and surface defect identification. Assist in mechanical, chemical, and hydrostatic testing as per standards. Participate in NDT activities (UT, RT, MPI, LPT. under supervision.
Quality Documentation
Maintain inspection records, test reports, and quality logs. Assist in preparation and review of Mill Test Certificates (MTCs.. Ensure traceability of materials from raw material to finished product.
Standards & Compliance
Work in accordance with API, ASTM, IS, ISO 9001 and customer specifications. Assist during internal audits, customer inspections, and third-party audits. Support implementation of quality plans, inspection & test plans (ITP..
Process Control & Improvement
Monitor manufacturing processes for quality deviations. Assist in root cause analysis for non-conformances and support corrective/preventive actions. Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, and Stores for quality-related issues.
Training & Development
Learn plant quality systems, testing methods, and inspection techniques. Adhere to safety, environmental, and housekeeping standards at all times.
