The Mining and Minerals Vertical of Hindalco is responsible for securing critical raw materials for captive consumption through the development and operation of coal, bauxite, and other mineral mines. The Mining and Minerals division serves as the backbone of Hindalco's aluminium value chain, contributing to its global competitiveness through responsible mining, operational excellence, and sustainable resource utilization. The Bauxite Mining operations play a pivotal role in supplying raw materials to Hindalco's alumina refineries at Muri (Jharkhand), Renukoot (Uttar Pradesh), and Belgaum (Karnataka). Hindalco's bauxite mining operations are spread across multiple states - Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Maharashtra - with the Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh clusters being centrally managed from Lohardaga.
Currently, Hindalco operates 17 mines across these clusters, with an additional five mines under statutory or operational closure. The bauxite mined is dispatched through Lohardaga, Tori, Richughuta, Hasel Central Crushing Unit, Barkichapi sidings and Meral Siding, ensuring seamless supply to downstream refineries. With focus on preventive and rehabilitative medicine, there is a growing need of support system which would improve employee experience.
The key function of this role is tooversee the progress of construction of the multispecialty hospital at Lohardaga at present and will evolve to the responsibility of complete administration of the same once it is commissioned. Criticality will be to operate this 20-bed hospital as per NABH protocol towards making advanced medical facilities available to all employees, including contractual employees and their families as well as to the community. This position of Chief Medical Officer involves leading medical services for both Coal & Bauxite mining divisions across locations having occupational health centres helmed by medical officers of the respective cluster of mines. This role is expected to not only lead the pool of doctors responsible for providing medical services at Lohardaga cluster but also provide functional guidance to the regional heads of the integrated health services heads at Lohardaga, Gurdari, and Netharhat, operating Occupational Health Centres (OHC) in their respective areas involving maintaining the respective OHCs as per protocol, conductingInitial Medical Examination (IME)and Periodic Medical Examination (PME) of employees including contractual employees towards certifying their required level of fitness, profiling their medical needs and continuing treatment, conducting OPD and raising awareness about health and safety.Eventually this role will be expected to monitor the standard of medical services provided by all doctors deployed by third party operators of the upcoming hospital.
