DESCRIPTION
The Supplier Quality Engineer creates value by supporting supplier quality initiatives that enable the business or function to achieve its operational and strategic supplier quality goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Good knowledge related to Stamping, fabrication, welding and Painting/ powder coating process.
- Exposure to parts like Deep draw Oil pan, Gear Cover & Brackets will be added advantage.
- Good knowledge related to GD & T / reading drawings / measurement techniques / understanding of welding standards.
- Build relationships with all critical partners to improve quality and business outcomes, including external suppliers, external customers, and internal stakeholders such as Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Engineering.
- Develop new parts at assigned suppliers and complete source release, Technical Review, PPAP, and APQP processes.
- Maintain and monitor the quality of parts supplied by assigned suppliers and drive improvement actions on quality issues reported by plants (CAPA).
- Assign reactive and proactive performance targets to suppliers, monitor progress against the targets with stipulated frequency.
- Conduct yearly Product & Process Audits at suppliers and lead key quality improvement projects.
- Drive supplier quality work plans with assigned suppliers and facilitate regular review meetings.
- Participate in the resolution of external supplier-related quality challenges, supporting root cause analysis, corrective actions development, and effectiveness verification.
- Participate in quality performance planning and improvement processes for specific product types or supply base segments.
- Lead the quality planning and improvement process for low complexity and low-risk product types or supply base segments.
- Conduct supplier audits and may lead low complexity and low-risk audits after becoming a certified auditor.
- Travel 60 to 70 percent to India supplier base for process improvement, source release, APQP, and developmental work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Experience:
- Minimal level of relevant work experience required.
- Good knowledge of stamping, fabrication, welding, and painting/powder coating processes.
- Exposure to parts such as deep draw oil pans, gear covers, and brackets is an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of GD&T, reading drawings, measurement techniques, and welding standards.
- Proficiency in 7-Step problem solving/8D, quality tools, Technical Review, APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC, and Source Release processes.
- System knowledge related to CQMS.
- Strong analytical skills for data analysis and driving corrective actions.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexible, adaptable, and willing to accept challenges.
- Ability to collaborate with plant quality and engineering teams in case of quality issues from parts supplied by assigned suppliers.
- Ability to handle conflict situations effectively.

- Quality Standards: Applying ISO9001:2015 and IATF16949 standards to develop regulatory-compliant processes.
- Statistical Foundations: Utilizing statistical tools and techniques for data-driven decision-making and process improvement.
- Supplier Performance Improvement: Developing and executing quality improvement strategies for supplier performance enhancement.
- Supplier Quality Project Planning and Execution: Applying APQP skills to develop and execute quality plans for suppliers.

- Supplier Product Reliability: Evaluating supplier product designs and manufacturing processes to meet reliability expectations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications:
- College, university, or equivalent degree in Engineering or a related technical or scientific subject required.
- This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
