This role leads APQP/PPAP execution, drives zero-defect culture at suppliers, integrates suppliers into the supply chain, and ensures continuous improvement through robust quality assurance and proactive relationship management.

Responsibilities

Supplier Development

  • Lead supplier development activities leveraging APQP to achieve right-first-time launch for new components and localization programs.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in PPAP, SPC, and MSA; coach suppliers on effective deployment and compliance.
  • Conduct initial process capability studies and MSA at supplier sites, interpret results, and guide corrective actions to improve process stability and capability.
  • Perform regular process audits against approved PPAPs; run performance reviews to monitor progress and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Provide guidance on Zero Defect programs, lean methodologies, and quality management systems to build sustainable supplier capability.

Quality Assurance

  • Implement corrective and preventive actions to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement of supplier performance.
  • Facilitate structured root-cause analysis and problem-solving to address defects and systemic gaps.
  • Establish and maintain supplier quality standards (Quality Plans, QA Plans, Post-Trouble Checklists, Quality Alerts) and ensure defect-free products reach the customer.

Supply Chain Integration

  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, planning, and sourcing teams to integrate suppliers seamlessly into the supply chain.
  • Ensure alignment with internal stakeholders and suppliers on specifications, project timelines, APQP deliverables, and expectations.
  • Support ramp-up readiness, run-at-rate validation, and capacity verification to secure stable supply.

Relationship Management

  • Develop and execute the supplier development strategy aligned with category and sourcing plans.
  • Build strong supplier partnerships grounded in trust, transparency, and mutual respect.
  • Address supplier concerns and resolve conflicts promptly and professionally to maintain productive collaboration.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for supplier inquiries, support, and communication, fostering effective channels and cadence.

Supplier Assessment and Selection

  • Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions for critical parts.
  • Evaluate potential suppliers for technical competence, capacity, quality systems, process capability, and compliance with Parker standards.
  • Lead on-site assessments and audits; document findings and develop improvement roadmaps where applicable.

Cost Management

  • Partner with suppliers to identify and execute cost-reduction initiatives through value engineering, process optimization, waste elimination, and supply chain efficiencies.

Support total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis and ensure cost improvements do not compromise quality or delivery

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Execute APQP deliverables (DFMEA/PFMEA, Process Flow, Control Plan) with suppliers and crossfunctional teams to submit complete and compliant PPAPs that are approved on first pass.
  • Conduct SPC capability studies (Cp/Cpk) and MSA (GRR) on supplier production lines and critical characteristics to confirm capable processes (1.33 Cp/Cpk or per spec) and acceptable measurement systems.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis (5Why, Fishbone) and implement CAPA and mistakeproofing on top defect modes at suppliers to lower PPM quarteroverquarter and eliminate repeat nonconformances.
  • Perform PPAPaligned process audits at key supplier sites to identify gaps and drive timely closure of findings, improving audit scores and process stability.
  • Coordinate engineering, manufacturing, logistics, warehouse, and planning with selected suppliers to meet APQP gate dates, OTIF targets, and rampup plans for launches.
  • Build and maintain supplier scorecards and conduct regular performance reviews for strategic suppliers to track QDC metrics, agree improvement actions, and ensure accountability.
  • Run VA/VE and process optimization workshops with supplier engineering and operations to remove waste, improve yields, and deliver agreed cost savings.
