Job Profile: Sub Editor Lifestyle Section
The Sub Editor, Lifestyle Section will be responsible for ideating, curating, and editing engaging lifestyle content across a wide range of topics, including wellness, high-end fashion, beauty, travel, culture, home & living, and relationships. The ideal candidate should have a strong grasp of English language, a good sense of digital storytelling, and the ability to adapt content for diverse age groups and audience segments.
The role demands creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced newsroom while ensuring accuracy, clarity, and freshness in every story.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ideate and write lifestyle stories aligned with audience interests and trends.
2. Edit and fact-check content for language, accuracy, and style.
3. Craft engaging headlines and intros suitable for digital platforms.
4. Stay updated with lifestyle trends, social media buzz, and pop culture to pitch fresh story ideas.
5. Coordinate with reporters, photographers, and multimedia teams to package stories effectively.
6. Ensure timely publishing and maintain content quality and consistency.
7. Optimize stories for SEO and readability.
8. Adhere to the editorial standards and ethics of Dainik Jagran Group.
9. Use Canva or similar tools for basic visual edits and story packaging.
Qualifications:
1. Graduate or Postgraduate in Journalism, Mass Communication, or related fields.
2. 1-2 years of experience in lifestyle journalism (digital experience preferred).
3. Excellent command of English language and strong editing skills.
4. Creative mindset with the ability to spot unique lifestyle angles and trends.
5. Understanding of digital content formats and audience behaviour.
6. Ability to ideate stories keeping different age groups and demographics in mind.
7. Familiarity with Canva and basic multimedia tools is desirable.
8. Strong time-management and multitasking abilities.
