The Global Procurement organization at United Airlines is responsible for procuring goods, services and managing strategic relationships with third-party providers with the objective of reducing total cost and risk to the company while improving levels of quality, service, and technology.
Job Overview And Responsibilities
The primary role of a
Sourcing Specialist – Global Procurement is to support the Strategic Sourcing team in India and the US. The role will focus on various activities such as development of RFPs, supply market analysis, RFP response analysis, negotiations, SOW and contract reviews, and other ad-hoc analysis with the goal of capturing savings on various spend categories. The role may manage procurement activity for Technical Operations such as heavy maintenance services, or line maintenance services, or components, etc.
- Manage and execute statements of work (SOWs) and/or contracts and/or renewals, negotiate commercials and key terms to drive savings and reduce overall risk on assigned categories by working with various stakeholders and leadership teams while ensuring business stakeholders functional and operational needs are met
- Manage and execute sourcing process including external supply market analysis, internal demand assessment, creation and analysis of RFPs, system set-up and administration, supplier evaluation scorecards, ongoing collaboration and proactive communication with all stakeholder groups
- Proactively track market trends in assigned categories, and bring innovative ideas to optimize spend and drive value to the company
- Drive business relationships with key internal stakeholders and external suppliers through strong communication
- Participate in vendor management activities which may include following-up on performance against contract (compliance) and resolution of any constraints or issues
- Create and manage relevant dashboards to track metrics, and provide analytical support to establish robust sourcing methodologies to drive cost savings
- Develop knowledge and expertise in the assigned spend categories; drive savings by working with various stakeholders and category manager while ensuring user needs are met
This position is offered on local terms and conditions. Expatriate assignments and sponsorship for employment visas, even on a time-limited visa status, will not be awarded.
Qualifications
What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree required in finance, economics, engineering, or a relevant business field
- At least 2 years of relevant experience, ideally in procurement, technical operations/ maintenance operations, supplier management, or finance
- Strong experience working with external suppliers, ideally in different geographies
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and people skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and analytical / data tools
- Organized, detail-oriented, thorough and professional
- Works well in high-paced cross-functional environment
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
- Knowledge of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) concepts or strategic sourcing processes
- Advanced Microsoft Excel techniques
- Proven comfort working with large/complex information sets
- Work experience with an airline, or familiarity with airline operations
- Work experience in a consulting or analytical role
