Job Title: Steel Department Head
Department: Production / Manufacturing Steel Division
Location: Changodar Plant, Ahmedabad
Reporting To: Director Operations / Plant Head
Experience - 8-12 years
Budget - upto 90 k per month
Job Summary:
The Steel Department Head is responsible for leading, supervising, and managing the entire steel fabrication and production operations. This includes planning, process optimization, manpower management, quality control, and coordination with design, maintenance, and dispatch teams to ensure efficient and timely output aligned with company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production Planning & Control
Plan and manage daily production schedules for steel furniture and components.
Allocate resources effectively to meet targets while maintaining cost efficiency.
Ensure timely availability of raw materials and consumables in coordination with the Purchase Department.
Monitor WIP (Work In Progress) and ensure adherence to timelines.
2. Team Management & Supervision
Lead and supervise the team of operators, welders, fabricators, and supervisors.
Ensure proper shift allocation and discipline among workers.
Conduct regular performance reviews and ensure skill development for team members.
3. Quality Assurance
Ensure all production processes meet the company's quality standards and client specifications.
Implement and monitor quality checks at every stage of fabrication and finishing.
Coordinate with the QA team to resolve quality-related issues promptly.
4. Maintenance Coordination
Coordinate with the maintenance department for preventive and corrective maintenance of machinery and tools.
Report breakdowns immediately and ensure minimal downtime.
5. Process Improvement & Efficiency
Identify bottlenecks in production and take corrective measures.
Suggest process improvements and automation to enhance productivity.
Maintain records of production efficiency, wastage, and downtime.
6. Coordination with Other Departments
Work closely with Design, Wooden, Paint, and Dispatch departments for smooth production flow.
Communicate effectively with HR for manpower planning and attendance issues.
Support inventory and dispatch planning with the logistics team.

7. Compliance & Safety
Ensure all workers follow safety protocols, PPE usage, and plant hygiene standards.
Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions in collaboration with HR/Admin.
Maintain compliance with company and legal norms related to factory operations.

Educational Qualification:
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering.
Minimum 812 years of experience in a steel fabrication or furniture manufacturing industry, with at least 35 years in a leadership role.

Working Days: 6 Days / Week
Timings: As per factory schedule
