Job Description

A State Product Head in banking is responsible for the state-level strategy, development, and performance of a bank's financial products, including managing a team to meet revenue goals, ensuring compliance, and driving business growth across various product lines. Key duties include product development, market analysis, sales and marketing strategies, stakeholder management, and overseeing the entire state's P&L for designated products. 

Core responsibilities

  • Strategy and P&L: Develop and implement the state's product strategy, manage the P&L for the state, and ensure business goals are met.
  • Product lifecycle management: Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from development and launch to monitoring performance and sunsetting products if necessary.
  • Market and competitor analysis: Conduct market research, analyze competitor products, and perform product benchmarking to identify opportunities and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Sales and marketing: Create and execute state-specific marketing plans, set targets for the sales team, and coordinate marketing efforts with regional teams.
  • Team and stakeholder management: Manage and lead a team of product and branch heads, foster a positive team environment, and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Customer focus: Drive customer satisfaction by ensuring product offerings meet client needs, overseeing service quality, and implementing client-centric initiatives.
  • Risk and compliance: Ensure all product activities comply with industry regulations and standards.

  • Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills to guide and motivate a large team.
  • Strategic thinking: Ability to develop long-term strategies and execute them effectively.
  • Analytical skills: Proficiency in data analysis, market analysis, and problem-solving.
  • Communication: Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to liaise with different stakeholders.
  • Banking knowledge: Deep understanding of banking products (e.g., loans, credit cards, investments), operations, and market trends.
