We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Staff Nurses and Senior Staff Nurses to join our Ward team. The ideal candidates will provide comprehensive patient care, manage ward operations efficiently, and ensure a comfortable and safe environment for patients. This role requires strong clinical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of nursing practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Care Planning & Implementation:
- Prepare individualized nursing care plans for assigned patients, considering their compliance, acceptability, and comfort.
- Conduct thorough room orientation for all new admissions.
- Complete the Nursing Assessment Guide within 30 minutes of patient admission.
- Review doctors notes and drug charts upon admission, ensuring proper implementation of orders.
- Accurately check and record vital signs promptly and legibly.
- Accompany consultants on rounds and carry out orders completely and efficiently.
- Ensure all prescribed investigations are conducted, and reports are available for doctors in a timely manner.
- Assist doctors during special procedures, dressings, and rounds.
- Coordinate the procurement of blood and blood products for transfusion, immediately reporting any reactions to the treating consultant, In-charge, and Nursing Superintendent.
- Accompany patients for special procedures and investigations as needed.
- Obstetrics & Gynecology Specific Care (if applicable):
- Prepare patients for labor room and delivery.
- Provide specialized care for mothers and their babies during pregnancy, and help expectant parents prepare for labor and delivery.
- Possess knowledge of Cardio Toco Graph (CTG) monitoring and APGAR scoring.
- Manage pre and postoperative care for procedures such as Lower Segment Cesarean Section (LSCS), hysterectomy, and conditions like post-partum hemorrhage and other obstetric emergencies.
- Assist in normal deliveries and have thorough knowledge of gestational age assessment and the specific problems associated with premature, post-mature, small for gestational age, and large for gestational age neonates.
- Prepare additional feeds using strict aseptic technique as per written doctor's instructions.
- Handle baby baths competently and with utmost care.
- Medication Management & Safety:
- Raise requisitions on HIS for pharmacy indents, check upon receipt, and properly stock medications in the patient's bedside locker.
- Administer medications and therapies on time according to the Drug Administration Policy.
- Ensure high-risk medicines are counter-checked by a second nurse for the 10 Medication Rights with complete documentation.
- Be aware of and implement policies regarding medications brought by patients and self-administration.
- Observe patients closely for safe medication administration and any adverse reactions.
- Immediately report any errors in medication, nursing intervention, or adverse drug reactions (ADR) to the In-charge, Nursing Superintendent, and Consultant, ensuring the respective form is filled.
- Compliance & Hygiene:
- Function as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for all non-medical services to ensure prompt service delivery.
- Complete transfer formalities as per the In-house Transfer Policy.
- Complete the preoperative checklist before sending the patient to the operation theatre.
- Maintain medical and nursing records of patients as per institutional requirements.
- Be aware of and implement NABH & Nursing Excellence (NE) standards.
- Maintain personal, patient, and environmental hygiene rigorously.
- Be aware of and implement protocols for hand washing, infection control, medication, narcotic policy, and management of personal valuables.
Educational Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution.
- A valid State Registration Nursing Council Certificate is mandatory.
