Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Experience in technical leadership, leading project teams, and setting technical direction.
  • Experience with crash reporting and analysis tools (e.g., Firebase Crashlytics, Sentry) and proactive monitoring.
  • Understanding of multithreading, concurrency, and asynchronous programming.
  • Understanding of software development life-cycle, agile methodologies, and architectural patterns.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills, with a focus on performance and scalability.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership, establish, and advocate for best engineering practices across teams at YouTube.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to other engineers and lead the design of major software components, systems, and features.
  • Launch user-facing features that revolutionize video creation (Long/Short-form) through the YouTube (YT) Create app on iOS.
  • Build a high-performance mobile app for video editing, working closely with partner teams to integrate media processing, effects production, and client infrastructure.
  • Develop in a combination of Flutter (for UX and data layers) and native iOS (for media and backend integrations), while leveraging relationships across Shorts, Music, and the ACE organization.
