Job Overview
Contributes to technical function initiatives across multiple projects and manages technical elements while maintaining performance and schedule.
Key Responsbilities
- System Architecture & Design
- Define end-to-end system architecture for transportation sensors, including embedded hardware, ASIC interfaces, signal processing, and software interactions.
- Lead electronic design activities: schematic development, electrical & thermal calculations, DFMEA creation, and PCB layout oversight.
- Perform system-level simulations and modeling to validate architecture and ensure robust performance across operating conditions.
Development, Validation & Problem Solving
- Lead full lifecycle sensor development by collaborating with Mechanical, Software, ECAD, ASIC, Quality, and Reliability teams.
- Conduct and manage system-level validations (functional, electrical, EMC, thermal).
- Demonstrate strong hands-on debugging skills across electronics, firmware, and system interfaces, including test rig hardware troubleshooting and development.
- Drive root-cause analysis using structured methodologies and implement durable corrective actions.
Functional Safety & Compliance
- Perform ASIL analyses, safety goal decomposition, FIT evaluation, and system safety architecture definition per ISO 26262.
- Work with hardware and software teams to define, manage, and verify safety requirements at component and system levels.
Customer Interaction & Technical Leadership
- Serve as the primary technical interface for customer discussions on requirements, concepts, design changes, and validation outcomes.
- Translate customer and market needs into clear system specifications and requirements.
- Lead design reviews, risk mitigation planning, and technical decision-making forums.
AI, Data Analytics & Continuous Improvement
- Apply machine learning techniques for test data analytics, anomaly detection, and early failure prediction.
- Leverage AI/ML to optimize calibration strategies and accelerate sensor characterization.
- Benchmark industry technologies, conduct IC characterization, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with global teams, subject matter experts, and external partners to deliver program milestones and maintain engineering rigor.
- Ensure structured execution using Lean Product Development and systems engineering best practices.
Desired Skill
- Masters / Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or Instrumentation Engineering.
- 12–15 years of experience in automotive electronics, sensor development, or integrated circuit/sensor platforms, with at least 5 years as a Systems Engineer.
- Strong background in sensor system design, architecture, and deployment for automotive environments.
- Expertise in analog/digital circuit design, simulation, and system-level functional verification.
- Strong debugging capability for hardware, firmware, and system integration issues.
- Hands-on experience developing test rigs, test instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex datasets, draw conclusions, and drive decisions.
- Proficiency in ISO 26262 Functional Safety Standards, ASIL compliance, FIT analysis, and safety architecture definition.
- Familiarity with sensing technologies such as Hall, piezoresistive/MEMS, strain gage, XMR, capacitance, and associated ASIC architectures.
- Experience with AI/hyperscale hardware OR AI driven analytics for sensor test data.
- Familiarity with machine learning techniques used for anomaly detection or predictive diagnostics.
- Knowledge of LabVIEW, communication interfaces (SENT, PWM, I²C), and software/system development workflows.
- Experience with ALM tools such as Code Beamer.
- Proven track record leading global cross-functional teams to deliver complex technical programs.
- Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-resolution skills.
What Your Background Should Look Like
Generally requires Bachelors degree in appropriate field with a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional level experience; Masters degree or higher or local equivalent may be preferred at this level
