Job Description

Description

As part of the AWS Applied AI Solutions organization, we have a vision to provide business applications, leveraging Amazon's unique experience and expertise, that are used by millions of companies worldwide to manage day-to-day operations. We will accomplish this by accelerating our customers businesses through delivery of intuitive and differentiated technology solutions that solve enduring business challenges. We blend vision with curiosity and Amazon's real-world experience to build opinionated, turnkey solutions. Where customers prefer to buy over build, we become their trusted partner with solutions that are no-brainers to buy and easy to use.

Are you interested in re-inventing the physical store Merchant Experience The Just Walk Out (JWO) enables shopping in retail stores with no lines and no checkout. You simply use a credit card to enter the store, take what you want from our selection of fresh, delicious meals and grocery essentials, and leave the store. This checkout-free shopping experience is made possible by the Just Walk Out (JWO) Technology, which automatically detects whether products are taken or returned, and enables shoppers to grab and go from stores ranging from small airport kiosks to massive university stores.

The Merchant Business Operations (MBX) team, within JWO, owns the core retail platform that enables merchants to operate autonomous stores at scale. We are responsible for the digital workstream that powers essential retail functions including Catalog Management, Loyalty Programs, Pricing, Promotions, Tax Configuration, Payment Settlement, and Refunds. Our platform supports diverse retail configurations-from fully Amazon-managed solutions to third-party POS and ERP integrations-enabling merchants across Sports, Education, Travel, Healthcare, and Hospitality verticals to launch and operate Just Walk Out stores efficiently. This Senior Product Manager-Tech will own the vision for merchant retail operations and the agentic platform that enables both internal teams and customers to optimize revenue and operations through AI-powered experiences.

You will define the product roadmap for enterprise-grade retail tools, third-party integration strategies, and intelligent automation capabilities that scale from hundreds to thousands of stores with vastly different requirements. You will work with Enterprise Customers, System Integrators, Engineering, Launch Partners, Solution Architects, and Customer Support teams to drive the long-term MBX vision as JWO expands from 350+ stores today to 1000s of stores. This role requires deep understanding of retail systems (POS, ERP, loyalty platforms) and the ability to navigate complex integration challenges while maintaining a strategic focus on scaling autonomous retail operations globally.

As a tenured Product Manager, you are familiar with the product development lifecycle. You exhibit high proficiency and efficacy in core product management disciplines such as defining user stories, priorities, success metrics, presenting vision that works backwards from customers, and are comfortable driving clarity across multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment. A successful candidate will combine an ability to Think Big with keen attention to detail. We are looking for a passionate, data-driven decision maker who likes building from scratch, experimenting with emerging technologies like generative AI, and setting high standards. You have a high degree of ownership, deep retail systems expertise, and are an excellent written and verbal communicator who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment.

Key job responsibilities
- Define and evangelize the long-term vision for Merchant Business Operations, developing strategic roadmaps for catalog management, loyalty programs, pricing, promotions, tax configuration, payment settlement, and refunds that align with Just Walk Out's goal of scaling from 400 to 7,000+ stores by 2028

- Own and drive the third-party integration strategy, proactively expanding the partner ecosystem from 21 to 30+ integrations (POS systems, ERP platforms, loyalty providers) to reduce customer onboarding costs from $50K to $0, shorten integration time from 12 weeks to 2 weeks, and accelerate sales cycles by eliminating integration blockers

- Lead the agentic platform strategy and execution, owning the AI-powered framework that enables Business Operations teams to build specialized agents while also delivering customer-facing agentic experiences that help merchants optimize revenue, reduce operational overhead, and make data-driven decisions about inventory, pricing, and promotions

- Own launch configuration and bring-up velocity for 3P integrations, working with System Integrators, launch partners, and solution architects to streamline store deployment processes, improve integration quality, and reduce the 70% of support tickets related to connector and catalog issues

- Drive observability and operational excellence initiatives, building tools and dashboards that provide launch partners, solution architects, and customer support teams with real-time visibility into system status, configurations, and integration health to enable faster troubleshooting and issue resolution

- Partner with engineering leadership to deliver scalable, enterprise-grade retail capabilities, making technical decisions that balance merchant needs across diverse verticals (Sports, Education, Travel, Healthcare, Hospitality) with engineering constraints, platform stability, and the ability to support stores with vastly different and special retail requirements

- Own billing and invoicing strategy in partnership with the Billing team, ensuring accurate merchant billing for JWO services, transparent cost structures across Fully Integrated, Ordering by Amazon, and Delegated models, and seamless financial operations as the business scales to thousands of stores

- Define and track key business operations metrics including catalog accuracy, promotion effectiveness, loyalty program engagement, integration quality, merchant satisfaction, and time-to-launch to drive continuous improvement and inform product investment decisions

- Build and maintain relationships with enterprise customers and cross-functional stakeholders, gathering requirements from merchants operating at scale, understanding retail systems constraints (POS, ERP, loyalty platforms), and ensuring MBX capabilities meet current needs while anticipating future requirements as the business scales globally
