The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process optimization and technology implementation, with a specific focus on AWS-based environments. What you will do
- Leadership & Strategy:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive observability strategy aligned with business goals.
- Lead and mentor a team of observability engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of observability processes.
- Process Optimization:
- Analyze current observability processes and identify areas for improvement.
- Implement best practices for monitoring, logging, and tracing, ensuring high availability and performance of cloud services.
- Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of observability processes.
- Technology Implementation:
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of observability solutions using AWS services.
- Ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of observability tools and processes.
- Stay updated with the latest AWS technologies and industry trends to continuously enhance observability processes.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with development, operations, and security teams to ensure comprehensive observability coverage.
- Communicate observability strategies, progress, and outcomes to stakeholders at all levels.
Who you are and what you bring
- Technical Expertise:
- Extensive experience with AWS services (CloudWatch, X-Ray, CloudTrail, Lambda) and other services like Datadog, Dynatrace.
- Proficiency in observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or Datadog.
- Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash).
- Process Management:
- Proven track record in building the team ground-up, optimizing observability processes and implementing best practices.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps principles.
- Leadership & Communication:
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in cloud observability management or a related role.
- AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer) is a plus
