Job Purpose:

To independently own logistics operations for the site by leading material planning at site level, managing long-lead items and vendor/transport relationships, reducing logistics risks and drive timely, safe and cost-efficient delivery to support project milestones.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage site logistics for critical and long-lead items: maintain prioritized delivery schedules and escalation plans.
  • Own on-site stores and yard operations and implement kitting/sequencing for critical work fronts, manage packaging/packing standards and optimise storage layouts.
  • Drive vendor and transporter performance management for site. Monitor ETA vs. actual, manage demurrage/detention exposure and negotiate corrective actions.
  • Coordinate inspections, third-party QC and readiness checks and ensure release documentation and sample sign-offs are complete before dispatch.
  • Implementing transport management, warehouse management techniques.
  • Lead reconciliation of site stocks, prepare variance root cause analyses and recommend corrective actions to procurement/accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE, site regulations and any sector-specific safety norms (material handling, hazardous goods).
  • Support customs/CHA coordination for imported consignments and ensure correct documentation to reduce clearance delays.
  • Implement and maintain logistics KPIs (on-time delivery, shortage rate, store accuracy) and provide weekly dashboards to Project Controls and Procurement.
  • Support claims/shortages resolution, coordinate with Contracts and Procurement for commercial recovery or adjustments.
  • Guide junior site logistics staff and create simple SOPs/checklists for consistent site practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain or equivalent.
  • 5-8 years of site logistics / stores / expediting experience in project / EPC / oil & gas environments with exposure to long-lead items and import clearances.
  • Strong Understanding of concepts of transport management concepts, warehouse management.
  • Strong knowledge of material control processes, packing/shipping norms and transport operations in India.
  • Experience with kitting, sequencing, yard layout optimisation and reduction of material handling cycle times.
  • Good command of logistics KPIs and ability to present concise dashboards to stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder management skills to work with procurement, contracts, expediting, QA and transporters.
  • Software: Advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP), comfortable with ERP modules for Materials Management (SAP MM preferred), exposure to WMS/TMS or simple handheld inventory tools is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving, negotiation and ready for frequent field presence and travel between yards/sites.
