Key Responsibilities
Network Configuration & Maintenance:
Configure, manage, and monitor network devices such as routers, switches, DNS, DHCP and load balancers in data centres.
Ensure all networking components in the data centre are configured, optimized, and operational, ensuring high availability and reliability.
Troubleshooting & Support
Provide L2 support for network issues, diagnosing and resolving incidents related to data centre network services.
Escalate complex issues to senior engineers (L3) when required and assist in their resolution.
Ensure proper documentation of network configurations and troubleshooting procedures.
Network Performance Monitoring
Monitor the performance of data centre network infrastructure to ensure optimal operation.
Work with the team to conduct proactive network monitoring and resolve potential bottlenecks or issues before they affect performance.
Network Security & Compliance
Maintain and enforce network security policies, performing regular vulnerability assessments, and ensuring compliance with internal and external standards.
Collaborate with the security team to maintain a secure network environment within the data centre.
Project Support
Assist in the planning, design, and implementation of network-related projects within the data centre.
Help manage network upgrades, installations, and new technology implementations as required.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate network documentation, including configurations, network topology, and troubleshooting logs.
Generate reports on network performance, incidents, and resolutions.
Collaboration & Teamwork
Work closely with other teams (e.g., Systems, Security, and Operations) to ensure seamless operation of network services across the entire data centre.
Participate in on-call rotations and shift schedules as needed.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience
4-8 years of hands-on experience in network engineering, preferably in a data centre environment.
Familiarity with various network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF) , ACI/ Nexus switches and network topologies.
Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG, etc.).
Experience with routing and switching (Cisco, Juniper, etc.) and basic understanding of firewalls and load balancers.
Certifications
CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent networking certifications are preferred.
Technical Skills
Proficiency with network devices, such as switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers.
Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies (e.g., VLAN, VPN, QoS, etc.).
Knowledge of network security concepts, including firewall configurations and VPNs.
Familiarity with data centre environments and cloud services (AWS, Azure, etc.) is a plus.
