Objective of the Role:
The role is responsible for driving supplier quality excellence by leading supplier development initiatives, ensuring compliance with quality standards, and improving product quality while reducing warranty costs. The position will play a key role in supplier enablement, new product development, and continuous quality improvement across OEM suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supplier Quality Management
- Manage OEM supplier quality to ensure consistent delivery of conforming products on time.
- Define supplier quality requirements, including inspection and testing standards.
- Ensure supplier compliance with applicable quality and regulatory standards (BIS, BEE, ISO).
- Drive supplier capability building and continuous improvement initiatives.
2. Supplier Development & Improvement
- Lead and manage supplier development projects including:
- New Product Development (NPD)
- Corrective and preventive actions
- Process improvements
- Coordinate with suppliers for part-level and process-level improvements.
- Support supplier enablement programs to enhance quality performance.
3. Quality Assurance & Audits
- Plan and conduct supplier process audits and support system audits.
- Monitor supplier performance through audits, product quality, and field feedback.
- Ensure adherence to Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001).
4. Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
- Lead root cause analysis and containment actions for non-conformances.
- Drive structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, Six Sigma, FMEA).
- Track and verify effectiveness of corrective actions and improvements.
- Initiate and lead quality improvement projects aimed at warranty cost reduction.
5. Product Development Support
- Ensure involvement in part/component development and improvement processes.
- Manage product/part release for series production based on platform approvals.
- Support quality assurance during product lifecycle management.
6. Project Management & Reporting
- Prepare detailed project plans with timelines and resource requirements.
- Track progress of supplier quality improvement activities.
- Provide regular updates on supplier quality metrics, improvement status, and risks.
- Share lessons learned, best practices, and updates across stakeholders and OEMs.
7. Cross-functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with internal teams (R&D, Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality) to meet quality objectives.
- Ensure alignment of supplier quality goals with organizational targets.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics or related field)
Experience
- 6 to 10 years of relevant experience in:
- Supplier Quality
- Consumer Durables / Home Appliances
- Product Development / OEM Quality
