Job Description

  • This position is responsible for the interpretation of customer specifications, drawings, and power system requirements as they apply to MV Gas insulated switchgear.
  • Interfaces with field sales, customers, development, manufacturing, order services and materials during order cycle process.
  • This position includes engineering support for quick resolution of questions and issues regarding MV GIS Switchgear manufacturing assembly and test.
  • Design of control schemes, utilizing PLCs and/or relays, to accomplish automated transfer operations.
  • Creation of electrical one line , elevation drawing ,schematics and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD.
  • Design of ground fault protective schemes, including those involving multiple sources.
  • Generation of bills of material, and modification of standard assemblies as required to suit the application.
  • Familiarity with Modbus and TCP/IP communications protocols, and RS-485 and Ethernet interfaces.
  • Exercises judgments within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criterion for obtaining results.
  • Detailed knowledge of principles of electrical engineering so able to assess feasibility of design options.
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of industrial standards, quality and safety requirements.
  • Ensures assignments are within design, budget and schedule limitations.
  • Communicates project concerns and suggestions, both verbally and in writing, with the Project Manager and Engineering Manager.
  • Participates as needed in proposal acceptance reviews, offering acceptance or recommendations for improvement on the systems engineering scope of work and labor hours estimated on the proposed project.
  • Provide virtual technical support for shop floor for the orders engineered.
  • Take up stretched assignments as and when needed.
  • Should be able to work on Shift- Flexible timings support United states SE-shop floor
  • Should be capable of working on multiple products on requirement.
  • Should be capable of training the team members.
  • Should be capable of assigning the projects based on the availability and complexity.
  • Minimal travel may be required.

Required Competencies:

  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering knowledge.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and assemblies.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer relation skills.
  • Excellent problem resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of low voltage switchboard / switchgear design, installation, and use.
  • Knowledge of IS/IEC/UL/ANSI/UBC/CBC/SEISMIC codes & standards governing the installation and use of low voltage switchboards / switchgear. Knowledge on UL1558 & UL891 is added advantage.
  • Ability to interpret basic front elevation, one-line, and schematic drawings.
  • To work in a virtual environment. (without seeing the product physically, as Manufacturing Plants are in North America).
  • Should be team player and be able to work in a multicultural team.
  • Good interpersonal and customer relation skills.
  • Hands on experience with Eplan, Auto cad, PLCs circuit and Simulation software.

Preferred Competencies:

  • Knowledge of switchgear design, installation, and Application
  • Ability to program and troubleshoot PLCs (auto-throwover schemes).
  • Experience using AutoCAD-2012/2016.
  • Familiarity with ANSI Relays (ANSI numbering of relays & their application) and relay auto-throwover schemes.
  • Experience with Modbus communications, utility metering, and circuit monitoring applications.
  • Experience working with field sales, consulting engineers, distributors, and installation contractors.
  • Excellent ability to troubleshoot electrical control, ground fault, and interlocking schemes.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.

Qualification & Experience:

BE/B.Tech/ Masters in Electrical Engineering along with 4 to 8 years of experience in the

manufacture or design of Gas insulated switchgear. Inter-personal skills are also essential in order to maintain the strong team atmosphere that currently exists within our group..
