About The Team
The Retail Controllership organization is a global (US & India) based team focused on primarily accounting within the order to cash and procure to pay business functions. Specific areas of responsibility for this organization are as follows: Revenue, Inventory, Vendor Income, Supply Chain Accounting, Accounts Payable and Import Accounting areas. The organization is a blend of technical accounting, operational accounting, process design and improvement and automation/reporting.
Job Summary
The primary purpose of this role is to provide leadership, support and oversight for the Retail Controllership Accounting function, which includes revenue and inventory accounting, accounts payable, vendor income, freight payables, customer payment accounting and supply chain accounting. This includes responsibility for understanding US GAAP, internal control design and execution, and designing, producing and explaining financial and operational reporting and analyses to all levels of management. This role is engaged in cross-functional initiatives and efforts across the organization. The primary internal customer is the Merchandising organization but also interacts with a wide variety of internal and external parties to support the achievement of corporate goals.
Roles & Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership to the business unit accounting support functions and leverages specialized knowledge to identify and mitigate risks, leading to timely and accurate accounting transactions and financial reporting
- Leads by example and fosters an environment of continual process improvement, cost productivity, automation and leveraging AI to deliver value
- Supports the evolution and maturation of the global accounting operation, specifically driving functional ownership and accountability within the teams
- Takes ownership of problem-solving opportunities, while driving root cause resolution and risk mitigation
- Builds high-performing teams by developing and acquiring talented accounting professionals
- Develops and maintains relationships to influence strategic and business decisions
- Leads and develops the team to ensure accounting best practices are implemented and followed, financial results are accurately recorded, reported and analyzed to identify insights for decision making
Years Of Experience
- Minimum 10 Years of experience in an Accounting or Financial reporting role
- Minimum 5 Years of leadership experience handling direct reportees and large teams
- 5+ years of experience working closely with Senior Leadership (VP and above)
Education Qualification & Certifications
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Commerce or Finance (Required)
- Master's degree (MBA) (Preferred)
