Function Overview

The Sales & Commercial Capabilitiesteam partners with our global General Mills sales teams in providing them with analytical horsepower and enable business continuity so they can focus on core activities - Selling, driving distribution gains and optimizing merchandising plans to deliver sales volume targets. We enable customer, pricing & promotion strategies across the global markets through our focused capabilities of Sales Execution, Trade & Strategic Revenue Management and Category Management. Teams within function are aligned to the above focused capabilities for each of our markets and each team member specializes in domains of Advanced Analytics, Visual Insights & Planogramming.

Purpose of the role

As a Business Category Lead (BCL) on the Walmart business, you will use analytical skills to develop and execute unbiased category strategies for our advised category. You will be responsible for delivering the most current consumer insights, competitive insights, category data analysis, shelving, assortment, and merchandising recommendations to drive the category at Walmart.

In this role you will be responsible for helping advise the Snacks Category Team and remaining advised teams through the Relay process while providing the latest category performance and consumer insights. This is a role where you will significantly develop your analytical skills in a unique way as you learn Luminate data, Walmart's new robust customer data source, and work towards enhancing your story telling skills as you leverage the vast amounts of data fields available from Shopper Data.

Dotted line reporting to the Senior Category Advisor on the Snacks team. Responsibility will be for our entire advising category teams with a large portion of the work focused on the snacks category. This role specifically will be focused on driving influential insights through the use of OVT, Nielsen, and Luminate.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Business Analysis & Capability Development (70% of time)

- Develop holistic omni-channel category strategies by leveraging the tools, insights, and analytics from internal, industry, and retailer-specific sources.

- Build an influential selling story by gathering and analyzing category, consumer behavior (purchase behavior, demographics, trends, competition), market, and customer information from multiple internal and external data sources (e.g., Luminate, Nielsen, Retail Link, shopper insights, sales data).

- Cultivate actionable insights and strategic category initiative recommendations to drive category growth, distribution, merchandising, and shelving.

- Participate in special strategic category projects intended to evolve or advance General Mills category management influence.

- Retrieve and structure syndicated customer and consumer data to build robust tools and capabilities leveraging Excel, Tableau, GCP & SQL

Continuous Improvement mindset to deliver Executional Excellence, and Project Management (20% of time)

- Ensure TAT is upheld via awareness on process requirements, meeting benchmark time estimates and through articulate expectation settings with the stakeholder

- Guarantee data quality and accuracy through thorough comprehension of request, accurate application of tools/platforms with an eye for detail and a robust data & logic check

- Eliminate Waste, Contribute to the Functional Productivity Goals

- CI Mindset: develop and drive a lens of continuous improvement for the projects, process & larger team

- Project Management: Juggle multiple projects incld. long range projects and own project scoping, to trouble shooting, collaborating, to timely communication/iterations with peers and stakeholders to high impact completion and presentation

- Mentoring & Training new hires and analysts to excel in their roles and outperform expectations

Building Stakeholder Relationships (10% of tim e)

- Brand themselves as a SME on multiple fronts

- Understand client needs/ customer request and see the larger picture to enable holistic solutions

- Ability to recommend and influence changes to process/procedures

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- Education - Full time graduation from an accredited university

- Minimum Degree Requirements: Bachelors

- 4 to 5 years of relevant Business Reporting or Analytics experience in CPG (or related) industry.

- BI Tool Expertise: Advanced Excel, Tableau & SQL

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Preferred Degree Requirements: Masters

- Preferred Major Area of Study: Business Management, Statistics, Marketing, Retail or Economics

- Preferred years of related experience: 5 - 6 years of relevant Business Reporting and/or Analytics experience
