Sr. AI & Custom Apps Engineer

Palo Alto Networks IT Engineering team is looking for a AI & Process Automation Software Engineer with strong

full-stack fundamentals and hands-on experience building AI-first solutions. This role requires

depth in application development (TypeScript, NestJS, React, SQL) combined with the ability to

design and deliver intelligent automation workflows using Industry latest AI platforms and not limited to

Vertex AI. You will work at the intersection of modern web development, cloud-native

automation, and applied AI.

Your Impact

Architect and develop full-stack applications using TypeScript, NestJS, React, and

relational databases, with a strong emphasis on testing and maintainability

Design and deliver agentic automation workflows using UiPath Maestro or equivalent

orchestration tools, integrated into enterprise systems (SAP, Workday, Salesforce)

Build and extend AI services: production RAG pipelines (chunking/embedding strategy,

retrieval patterns), Vertex AI/LangChain agents, and MCP serverbased agent/tool

orchestration

Establish evaluation and guardrails: offline/online evals, prompt/versioning strategy, PII

handling, and quality/latency/cost observability

Use AI in the engineering workflow: leverage LLMs for code scaffolding, test generation,

and documentation, with senior-level validation and architectural oversight

Apply cloud-native and DevOps best practices, including CI/CD, containerization,

tracing/logging/metrics, and deployment on GCP

Collaborate with product managers and business stakeholders to translate complex

requirements into scalable AI solutions

Mentor engineers across software, automation, and applied AI; codify reusable libraries,

templates, and standards

Skills:Your Experience

Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent

experience)

8+ years in software engineering with 5+ years full-stack development (React,

Node.js/NestJS, TypeScript/JavaScript, SQL/NoSQL)

Proven experience with agentic automation platforms (UiPath Maestro, n8n, or

equivalent)

Hands-on with AI platforms and frameworks: Vertex AI, LangChain, RAG pipelines,

embedding/vector databases, MCP servers, tool/function calling, and LLM orchestration

Proficiency in Python and TypeScript for automation and application development

Experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred); CI/CD, testing frameworks, and

production observability

Familiarity with enterprise platforms (SAP, Workday, Salesforce)

Ability to mentor and set technical direction, especially in applying AI responsibly to

enterprise systems

Education: 8+ years in software engineering with 5+ years full-stack development (React,

Node.js/NestJS, TypeScript/JavaScript, SQL/NoSQL)

Proven experience with agentic automation platforms (UiPath Maestro, n8n, or

equivalent)

Hands-on with AI platforms and frameworks: Vertex AI, LangChain, RAG pipelines,
