Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Database Design and Development:
  • Design and implement database schemas, tables, views, and indexes for performance and scalability.
  • Develop and maintain T-SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions to meet business requirements.
  • Write efficient and optimized SQL queries to interact with databases and handle complex data operations.
  1. Database Optimization and Performance Tuning:
  • Analyze query performance and execution plans to identify and resolve bottlenecks.
  • Implement indexing strategies and use optimization techniques to improve database query response times and overall system performance.
  • Monitor database performance and perform database tuning to improve speed, scalability, and efficiency.
  1. Data Migration and ETL Processes:
  • Work on data migration projects, including migrating data from legacy systems to SQL Server.
  • Design and implement ETL processes (Extract, Transform, Load) for integrating data from various sources into SQL Server databases.
  1. Data Security and Backup:
  • Implement and enforce database security policies to protect sensitive information.
  • Set up and manage data backups, restore procedures, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Ensure data integrity and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  1. Collaboration and Support:
  • Collaborate with developers, analysts, and system administrators to integrate SQL Server with other applications and platforms.
  • Provide support and troubleshooting for database-related issues, including performance problems, query optimization, and system errors.
  • Work with DevOps teams to automate deployment and database management processes.
  1. Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain thorough documentation of database schemas, stored procedures, and other technical resources.
  • Create reports and dashboards to provide insights into database performance, security, and usage.
  1. Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest features and best practices in SQL Server and database development.
  • Continuously improve coding standards and adopt best practices for database management and performance optimization.

Skills and Qualifications:

Mandatory Skills:

  • Proficiency in SQL Server (SQL Server 2012 or later).
  • Strong experience with T-SQL, including writing complex queries, stored procedures, and triggers.
  • Experience with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) for database development and troubleshooting.
  • Solid understanding of database design principles, normalization, and data modeling.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server performance tuning, including query optimization, indexing, and execution plans.
  • Experience with data migration and ETL processes.
  • Familiarity with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) for data transformation and migration.
  • Experience with data backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies in SQL Server.
  • Knowledge of database security best practices, including encryption and user access control.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS).
  • Familiarity with Azure SQL Database and SQL Server on Azure.
  • Experience with database automation tools and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) and when to use them alongside SQL Server.
  • Familiarity with Power BI for data visualization and reporting.
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure) and integrating SQL Server with cloud-based systems.
