Job Description

About the Role

Are you a Speech-Language Pathologist who believes that communication is a human right, not a compliance goal

At Bambino Therapy, we are looking for a passionate SLP to join our mission of providing neurodiversity-affirming (ND-affirming) care.

We don't fix autism; we support autistic and neurodivergent children in finding their authentic voices. We are specifically looking for a practitioner who is trained in (or deeply familiar with) Gestalt Language Processing (GLP) and Natural Language Acquisition (NLA) to support our many intonation babies and script-driven communicators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support GLPs: Identify Gestalt Language Processors and guide them through the stages of Natural Language Acquisition (from gestalts to self-generated language).
  • Child-Led Therapy: Facilitate sessions that follow the child's lead and interests, prioritizing regulation and connection over rote drills.
  • ND-Affirming Advocacy: Write strengths-based reports and goals that focus on functional communication and autonomy rather than normalization or masking.
  • AAC Integration: Implement robust AAC systems (high-tech and low-tech) while presuming competence in all learners.
  • Parent Partnership: Coach families on declarative language, sensory regulation, and honoring echolalia as meaningful communication.

What We're Looking For
  • Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's in Speech-Language Pathology (BASLP/MASLP/B.Sc. (Sp and Hg), M.Sc. (SLP)).
  • Specialized Knowledge: Training in GLP is highly preferred.
  • Mindset: A commitment to unlearning ableist clinical practices and embracing a social model of disability.
  • Clinical Skills: Experience with AAC, play-based intervention, and a deep understanding of the double-empathy problem.

  • Why Join Bambino Therapy
    • A workspace that celebrates neurodivergent identity (for both clients and staff!).
    • A focus on quality of connection rather than a high volume of back-to-back sessions.
    • Opportunities for professional growth in the evolving field of ND-affirming therapy.
