JOIN COWI TUNNELS TEAM IN GURGAON
We are part of the Business Line Engineering and Design Centre (EDC), collaborating closely with other COWI offices outside India in Scandinavia, the United Kingdom, Singapore and North America. By joining the team, you will become part of over 100 skilled geotechnical and underground engineering professionals in COWI. As a geotechnical team member, you will work in close collaboration with specialists elsewhere in COWI to deliver projects globally.




TURN CHALLENGES INTO SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS
As Engineer, you will join our global team of experts and will report to the Head of Tunnels, the Geotechnical section within the Tunnels and Underground Structures team. You will be performing analysis, providing design and preparing reports for tunnels and various underground structures, such as shafts and deep excavations, shallow and pile foundations, diaphragm walls, sheet pile walls and other types of retaining structures, micro-tunnels, ground movement assessment and building damage impact assessment due to tunnelling and deep excavations, proposal of instrumentation and monitoring, slope stability analysis, design of ground anchors or struts, finite element analysis, etc. You will be consistently working on your own initiative in this role with some guidance and supervision; and will be expected to mentor junior engineers and fresh graduates.




On a day-to-day basis you will:

  • Deliver tasks with some to little supervision in the specific work area
  • Compile design documents including reports, memoranda, calculations and drawings
  • Write parts of (or whole) reports or documents under supervision
  • Liaise with other disciplines within the Tunnels and Underground Structures team and other business units within COWI
  • Implement quality processes and procedures
  • Follow-up on own learning objectives (i.e. development plans/goals) for the professional area
  • Be responsible for successful management and delivery of tasks in terms of budget, quality and timelines

To succeed in this position, you must be able to communicate in written and spoken English to be able to interact with internal as well as external teams. You must possess strong inter-personnel skills to be able to build trust with your colleagues. In addition, you must have strong analytical skills and a structured work approach to develop practical solutions.


Furthermore, to align with the organisation's overarching driver of technical excellence, you should:

  • Hold a master's degree within Civil / Geotechnical Engineering
  • Have 8+ years of international (desirable) project design experience in carrying out analysis and design of underground structures such as retaining walls, diaphragm walls, sheet pile walls and ground anchors
  • Have experience in ground movement assessment, finite element analysis, geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring
  • Have good knowledge of geotechnical analysis and design software like GeoSlope, Plaxis, etc.
  • Possess knowledge of working with international codes (IS, BS, EURO and API, etc.)
  • Working experience within Scandinavian and/or UK markets would be considered a plus
  • Demonstrate impeccable English communication skills verbal and written
  • Be self-driven and intrinsically motivated to make a positive difference for the team, COWI and yourself
  • Manoeuvre and collaborate seamlessly across geographical and cultural boundaries
