Job Description
Role Summary
The HCL Now Solution Architect defines and architects customer solutions across the HCL Now / HCL Business Cloud portfolio, guiding engagements end-to-end from initial opportunity through go-live and into steady-state operation. The role combines deep cloud-native architecture expertise with hands-on delivery ownership: understanding stakeholder requirements, designing scalable and secure solutions, maintaining architectural standards, controlling cloud cost and risk, and resolving issues throughout the customer lifecycle. Solution Architects typically support multiple concurrent engagements across the HCL Software product portfolio — including HCL Commerce, HCL Unica, HCL CDP, HCL Workload Automation, HCL Digital Experience, HCL iControl, Mosaic, Mosaic Vibe Studio, and others.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Design & Architecture
- Assess customer IT landscapes and design end-to-end cloud-native architectures meeting business, security, and scalability requirements.
- Define migration roadmaps and architecture blueprints; drive solution standardization and templatization for reuse.
- Architect data and analytics components (pipelines, storage, reporting) to meet customer data-driven requirements.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Support Sales in scoping HCL Now / HCL Business Cloud opportunities and lead technical discovery with customers.
- Deliver Product Cloud Workshops and act as the customer's trusted technical contact from opportunity through go-live.
Delivery, Onboarding & Automation
- Guide deployments on HCL SoFy; templatize onboarding procedures and drive automation with DevOps/CloudOps.
- Apply AI-driven DevOps practices to automate delivery pipelines, monitoring, and operations.
- Mentor delivery engineers and provide technical oversight to keep implementations aligned to architectural intent.
Cost, Performance & Risk Management
- Own cost modeling and FinOps-driven cloud cost optimization; monitor sizing and resolve bottlenecks.
- Support performance, scaling, and DR testing; identify and mitigate architecture risk.
Continuous Improvement
- Feed recurring QC issues and customer learnings back to Product and DevOps teams.
- Stay current on cloud-native trends and HCLSoftware roadmaps; build reusable reference architectures for the practice.
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of professional experience with a demonstrated track record designing and delivering complex customer solutions in public and hybrid cloud architectures, ideally in a customer-facing or professional-services context.
- Hands-on experience architecting and deploying workloads on at least one major public cloud platform (AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud), with Architect-level (or equivalent) certification strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of Kubernetes and containerization (Docker), including implementation, setup, infrastructure, networking, and security on cloud.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, DB2, Oracle, or Aerospike.
- Solid, practical understanding of modern networking and interconnection options, security architecture, and global compliance and security standards.
- Deep understanding of design and integration patterns, and of solution standardization and templatization.
- Solid understanding of core AI concepts (ML fundamentals, generative AI, LLMs) and their application to cloud solutions.
- Proven implementation experience with HCLSoftware products — e.g., HCL Commerce, HCL Unica, HCL Workload Automation, HCL Digital Experience, HCL CDP, HCL iControl, or HCL MyXalytics — or a comparable enterprise software portfolio, including migrating, upgrading, and onboarding these products.
- Understanding of data migration strategy and the ability to work with product teams on execution.
- Business and technically savvy, with big-picture vision and the ability to articulate the solution vision to both internal and external audiences.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder-management, and analytical/problem-solving skills, with a keen, continuous-learner mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Professional Cloud Architect.
- Experience with architecture design tools such as Visio, Draw.io, or Lucidchart.
- Prior experience with cloud migration factories, migration tooling, or as-a-service delivery models.
- Experience in a presales or solution-consulting capacity, including proposal and estimation support.
- Exposure to DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and observability/monitoring tooling.
