Job Description

Integration Solution Architect (MuleSoft & Boomi)

Function: Pre-Sales + Delivery Architecture | Type: Full-time

Why this role exists

Our deals are won (or lost) in discovery and scope. We need an architect who speaks the language of AEs and CIOs, translates messy requirements into crisp solutions, creates airtight SOWs, and then shepherds delivery to valuefast.

What you'll own

Pre-Sales (30%)

  • Lead discovery, solution walkthroughs, and executive-level workshops for integration, API-led, and automation use cases.
  • Produce high-quality artifacts: solution option matrix, reference architectures, estimations, and SOWs (assumptions, RACI, milestones, risks).
  • Partner with Salesforce/MuleSoft/Boomi field teams and our AEs to shape opportunities, align POVs, and accelerate close.
  • Build demo assets and POV blueprints (e.g., Salesforce <> ERP order-to-cash, IDP/EDI, event streaming).

Delivery Architecture (40%)

  • Own end-to-end solution architecture across MuleSoft Anypoint Platform and Boomi AtomSphere (Workato nice-to-have) including API-led layers, connectivity, data mapping, security, and non-functionals (scalability, resiliency, observability).
  • Guide squads through build, test, and cutover; unblock devs, enforce standards, and make pragmatic tradeoffs.
  • Establish CI/CD, environment strategy, secrets management, and release governance.

Scoping & Governance (15%)

  • Run estimation models, set delivery plans, and keep scope honest (change control that sticks).
  • Define controls: API standards, versioning, SLAs, error handling, retry patterns, idempotency, data retention, and auditability.
  • Create playbooks for incident response, performance tuning, and cost/rate-card usage.

IP & Practice Development (10%)

  • Package reusable accelerators (connectors, templates, DataWeave libraries, Boomi process templates, Workato recipes), reference HLD/LLD kits, and demo scripts.
  • Mentor devs; raise the bar on code reviews, MUnit/test rigor, and documentation.

Stakeholder Leadership (5%)

  • Be the single throat to choke / back to pat for execs. Communicate clearly, forecast risks early, and land decisions.

Day-to-day tech you'll touch

  • MuleSoft: Anypoint Platform, API Manager/Exchange, Runtime/CloudHub/DLBs, MUnit, DataWeave 2.x, VPC/VPN/Peering, IDP, RPA and AI features of Mulesoft
  • Boomi: Atoms/Molecules/Containers, Process Reporting, Boomi Flow, Boomi B2B/EDI (X12/EDIFACT), Trading Partner Mgmt and AI features of Boomi
  • Workato (nice-to-have): Recipes, callable recipes, job monitoring, connectors, governance.
  • Salesforce (good-to-have): Core/Platform APIs, Platform Events, CDC, OAuth/JWT, FSC/Service/Experience Cloud patterns.
  • Security & NFRs: OAuth2/OIDC/SAML, mTLS, secrets/keystores, tokenization, PII handling, rate limiting, circuit breakers, bulk APIs, caching.
  • DevOps/Obs: Git, CI/CD (GitHub Actions/GitLab/Azure DevOps), Terraform (nice), logging/metrics/tracing (CloudWatch, ELK, Splunk), Postman/Insomnia, k6/JMeter.
  • Clouds: AWS/Azure/GCP VPCs, subnets, peering, private links, load balancers.
  • Data: JSON/XML/CSV/Parquet, CDC/streaming basics (Kafka nice-to-have), SQL fundamentals.

Must-have experience

  • 812 years in integration/architecture; 5+ years hands-on with MuleSoft and/or Boomi (ideally both), including enterprise-grade implementations.
  • 3+ years front-line pre-sales/solutions experience (discovery, estimations, proposals, competitive positioning).
  • Proven delivery of 10+ end-to-end integrations (mix of real-time, batch, and event-driven), including at least one Salesforce-centric program.
  • Demonstrable strength writing SOWs (scope, assumptions, deliverables, acceptance criteria, staffing plan).
  • Clear, confident communication with execs and engineers; crisp slides and cleaner diagrams.

Nice-to-have

  • Certs: MuleSoft Integration/Platform Architect, Boomi Professional Architect/Developer, Workato Automation Pro II/III, Salesforce Admin/Platform App Builder.
  • EDI/B2B (X12, EDIFACT), payments/PCI, healthcare (HIPAA), or manufacturing/logistics integrations.
  • API product mgmt, APIM strategy, or integration CoE experience.

Outcomes we'll measure (first 612 months)

  • Win rate uplift on qualified opps: +1520% driven by superior discovery/solutioning.
  • Estimate accuracy: 15% between SOW and actuals on first 3 projects.
  • Time-to-first-value: first milestone delivered in 6 weeks on new logos.
  • Reusable assets: 812 accelerators/templates (Mule, Boomi, or Workato) adopted across 2 projects.
  • CSAT/NPS: 8.5/10 average on architect engagement.

Sample responsibilities & deliverables

  • Discovery deck, solution options (good/better/best) with trade-offs.
  • High-level and low-level designs (context/solution/component/data flow, error & retry, sequence diagrams, mapping specs).
  • Estimation workbook + staffing plan; RAID log; cutover plan and runbooks.
  • API specs (RAML/OAS), DataWeave libraries, Boomi process maps, Workato recipes.
  • CI/CD pipelines (build/test/deploy) and environment strategy doc.
  • Health dashboards (latency, throughput, error rates), SLOs/SLIs.
