Minimum Qualifications
Undergraduate (UG):
- B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical / Electrical & Electronics / Renewable Energy Engineering
Postgraduate (PG) Preferred:
- M.E. / M.Tech in Power Systems / Solar / Renewable Energy
Experience
- 5+ years of experience
- Relevant hands-on experience in large Solar PV projects
Job Summary
The Solar Design Manager will be responsible for the complete electrical and basic civil design and engineering of Solar PV power projects, ensuring technically robust, compliant, and cost-effective solutions. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review electrical system designs for Solar PV projects & associated Substation design
- Conduct site surveys, feasibility studies, and prepare preliminary and detailed engineering designs.
- Perform AC & DC system design calculations, including cable sizing, protection coordination, and equipment sizing.
- Prepare Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), layout drawings, earthing & lightning protection layouts, and cable routing drawings.
- Coordinate with external agencies for civil-related drawings.
- Apply minimum working knowledge in civil design and MEP for interface and coordination.
- Perform energy generation simulations using tools such as PVSyst.
- Develop technical specifications, BOQs, datasheets, and tender drawings.
- Coordinate with internal and external engineering teams, vendors, and clients for design optimization and technical alignment.
- Ensure compliance with national and international standards, project specifications, and applicable codes.
- Support project execution teams with technical clarifications, site design resolutions, and engineering support.
- Interface with procurement and construction teams for timely material finalization and site implementation support.
- Assist in preparation of as-built drawings and support documentation for final project handover.
- Participate in pre-bid engineering, technical proposals, and design value engineering.
Preferred Skill Set / Desired Competencies
- Strong knowledge of Solar PV system design (AC & DC)
- Hands-on expertise in AutoCAD, PVSyst, or equivalent tools
- Good understanding of national & international electrical standards and codes
- Strong analytical ability with excellent communication and coordination skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Practical exposure to site execution and implementation challenges
