What's The Role

As a Software Quality Assurance Engineer with a focus on ETRM, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of end-to-end trading, risk, and settlement workflows across complex energy and commodities platforms. You will work closely with business users, trading teams, and technical stakeholders to design and execute robust testing strategies, validate business-critical processes, and support the delivery of high-quality, scalable ETRM solutions.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Analyze business requirements, functional specifications, and technical architecture documents to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
  • Develop detailed test plans, test scenarios, test cases, and test data for ETRM features and enhancements.
  • Define testing scope for new implementations, system enhancements, and regulatory-driven changes.
  • Identify test coverage gaps and recommend improvements to strengthen quality outcomes.
  • Execute functional, integration, system, and regression testing for commodity trading applications.
  • Validate the complete trade lifecycle, including trade capture, pricing and valuation, confirmations, risk calculations, settlements and invoicing, scheduling, and nominations.
  • Perform in-depth validation of ETRM workflows across front-, middle-, and back-office modules.
  • Conduct API and interface testing for integrations with exchanges, market data providers, risk engines, and downstream systems.
  • Log, track, and validate defects using tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, or HP ALM.
  • Participate in defect triage discussions with product owners, business analysts, and development teams.
  • Ensure timely defect resolution with clear documentation and traceability.
  • Apply strong knowledge of energy and commodity trading across markets including Power, Gas, Oil, Metals, LNG, and Renewables.
  • Work with ETRM platforms such as Endur, Allegro, or proprietary trading systems.
  • Utilize understanding of forward curves, market data, pricing models, P&L, VaR, exposure metrics, and regulatory requirements (Dodd-Frank, EMIR, REMIT).
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Selenium, Cypress, Python, or Java-based frameworks.
  • Identify suitable automation candidates within complex ETRM workflows.
  • Support CI/CD-driven automated regression testing initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with traders, risk analysts, business analysts, developers, and project managers
  • Produce clear QA status reports, test summaries, and release documentation.
  • Support user acceptance testing, release cutovers, and post-release production validation.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • 5–8 years of overall IT quality assurance or testing experience, including a minimum of 3 years within the ETRM domain (e.g., Endur, Allegro, or similar trading platforms).
  • Strong understanding of energy and commodity trading workflows across Power, Gas, Oil, Metals, LNG, and Renewables markets.
  • Solid knowledge of forward curves, market data, pricing models, P&L, VaR, exposure calculations, and other key risk metrics, along with regulatory frameworks such as Dodd-Frank, EMIR, and REMIT.
  • Experience or exposure to test automation using tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, Python, or Java is an added advantage.
