Job Title: Lead Software Engineer

Reports to: Head of Internal Comms and Engagement

Location: Bengaluru, India (Hybrid)

The Role

As a Lead Engineer, you will work with broadcast and streaming technologies used by major broadcasters, TV manufacturers, and standards bodies worldwide. This is a hands-on technical leadership role for someone who thrives on solving complex problems, guiding teams, and influencing international standards.

You Will

· Lead the design, architecture, and evolution of automated test platforms for HbbTV, CI+, ATSC and DVB-based broadcast and hybrid/streaming ecosystems.

· Translate complex specifications into clear, testable objectives and implement them in robust, scalable frameworks.

· Own end-to-end system architecture, ensuring modularity, maintainability, and long-term resilience.

· Design, build, and verify sophisticated software and hardware components.

· Represent the company in international standards bodies and technical working groups.

· Act as a player-coach: mentor engineers, set coding and architectural standards, support hiring, and unblock complex technical challenges.

· Shape engineering culture and champion technical excellence across the team.

· Work with globally distributed teams across the UK, India, China, and Belgium.

You Need to Have

· Experience analysing broadcast standards relating to (HbbTV, CI+, ATSC3, DVB, MPEG).

· Strong software engineering background using Python, Django, and Linux.

· Experience building large-scale frameworks and automated test orchestration systems.

· Strong understanding of the broadcast industry, particularly HbbTV and CI+.

· Experience with streaming technologies (e.g. DASH) and DRM systems (PlayReady, Widevine).

· Experience with cloud infrastructure (preferably Azure).

· Working knowledge of JIRA, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and tools such as Jenkins.

Use of AI & Modern Engineering Practices

· Use AI-assisted tools responsibly to accelerate development, testing, debugging, and documentation tasks.

· Apply strong engineering judgement to validate AI outputs, ensuring quality, correctness, and alignment with specifications and architectural standards.

· Lead by example in identifying opportunities where AI can improve team productivity, consistency, and quality without compromising technical rigour
