Software Engineering Management

The Software Engineering Manager is responsible for leading one of the software engineering delivery teams in CTCT implementing features in software developed for technicians and operators of these machines.

In this role you will be responsible for the following:

• Direct supervision of a staff of 4-6 software engineers, including goal setting, performance management, and career planning

• Engineering leadership and software release management, working closely with other functions to make decisions around scope/cost/quality and timing and build consensus.

• Provide technical guidance to team members, and help remove roadblocks for them

• Shows genuine interest in developing themselves, as well as others

• Leadership qualities, with the ability to work well with people with diverse skillsets, and motivate others to achieve team goals and objectives

• Ability to facilitate the efficient application of each person's time to the prioritized work by allocation and monitoring of tasks at a level of detail appropriate to each person

• Strong oral and written communication skills, and ability to effectively coordinate the team's efforts in the context of a global team

• Collaborating across geographically disperse CTCT sites to drive continuous improvements in software development processes

• Understand the importance of maintainable code and documentation when working in a large organization

• Any other duties directed by Management as and when required.

• Demonstrates participation in the hazard reporting process

• Demonstrates participation in the accurate reporting of incidents

• Contribute to a positive health and safety culture within the team

• Maintains a safe and clean work environment always

• Reads, understands, and follows all Safe Work Procedures

• Ensures access to and wears the appropriate PPE

• Always work within the guidelines of the Trimble Health and Safety Policy or that of other PCBUs if off-site

• Undertake training as directed to ensure you are competent to safely operate the equipment.

What Skills & Experience You Should Have

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields

• Minimum of 6 years of previous product development experience

• Experience as a Software Engineering Supervisor/Lead

• Knowledge of either C++, Java, Angular or Software Testing Android, Hardware or embedded systems experience an advantage.

• Experience in reasonable scale technical engineering projects, product development and working with globally dispersed teams is a plus

• Ability to effectively communicate at both a technical and business requirements level.

• Skills to contribute to one of the key areas of Software Engineering and Validation, as an individual contributor.
