SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Responsibilities

• Code, modify, test, and document new and existing programs using JSP, Servlet, Java Bean, JavaScript, JDBC, and SQL to meet project requirements
• Conduct unit, module, functional, and volume testing analyze test results and implement corrective actions to ensure software quality
• Prepare and document test data, and set up testing and production environments to support deployment processes
• Maintain comprehensive program and system documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing and system maintenance
• Assist in defining file structures and processing logic to support application system design and functionality
• Produce deliverables in compliance with group standards and procedures to ensure consistency and quality
• Collaborate with Project Leaders to study and design application systems, coordinate work, manage projects, and support user training activities
• Troubleshoot and provide technical support to end-users during application system implementation and maintenance to resolve issues promptly
• Train contract programmers in relevant programming skills to enhance team capabilities
• Participate in Disaster Recovery activities, including simulation exercises at Disaster Recovery sites, to ensure business continuity
• Continuously learn and acquire new programming skills related to system development and maintenance as assigned by supervisors
• Perform other system development and maintenance tasks as assigned by supervisors

Required competencies and certifications

• Proficient in English speaking and writing to communicate effectively in a professional environment
• Minimum three (3) years post-graduate experience working with personal computers or compatibles to ensure familiarity with hardware and software environments
• Minimum three (3) years post-graduate experience using Microsoft OS (Windows 7 or higher) and Microsoft Outlook to support system operations
• Minimum three (3) years experience within the past four (4) years in programming with JSP, Servlet, Java Bean, JavaScript, session management, JDBC, and SQL to develop and maintain applications
• Minimum two (2) years experience within the past three (3) years coding with HTML5, XHTML, AJAX, REST API, JSON, Java Server Faces, and EJB components to build web applications
• Ability to conduct unit, module, functional, and volume testing analyze test results and take corrective action to ensure software reliability

Preferred competencies and qualifications:

• Hands-on experience with IBM RAD9.0 or above, Eclipse, or equivalent IDEs to enhance development efficiency
• Experience in portal and portlet development to support enterprise web applications
• Knowledge of n-Tier Architecture to design scalable and maintainable systems
• Familiarity with Java Web Security/LDAP, JEE Security, and JEE Transaction to implement secure and reliable applications
• Experience with XML, SOAP Web Services, JNDI, and UML diagrams to support integration and documentation
• Skills in secure coding practices to prevent application vulnerabilities such as cross-site scripting, injection flaws, race conditions, and improper error handling
