We're looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to lead the design and delivery of secure, scalable digital solutions that support Singapore's legal and justice system.
This is a hands-on senior engineering role suited for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, driving engineering best practices, and delivering modern cloud-native applications. You'll play a key role in shaping technical direction, mentoring engineers, and building AI-enabled solutions that have meaningful impact across government.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will take ownership of the end-to-end delivery of modern software solutions while contributing to the long-term technical strategy of the platform.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead the design, development and delivery of scalable, high-quality software solutions from concept through production.
- Design robust system architectures that are secure, maintainable and aligned with long-term engineering objectives.
- Develop modern full-stack applications using TypeScript-based frontend technologies and TypeScript or Python backend services.
- Build and integrate AI-powered capabilities leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and other Generative AI technologies.
- Design, deploy and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines within the GitLab CI / SHIP-HATS ecosystem.
- Drive engineering excellence through clean code, reusable components, testing, documentation and code reviews.
- Collaborate with product owners, legal domain experts and technical stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Contribute to architectural discussions, technology roadmaps and platform improvements.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative, high-performing engineering culture.
- Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders while managing cross-team dependencies.

Required Skills & Experience
- At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Proven experience building and supporting large-scale, high-availability applications.
- Strong full-stack development experience with modern web technologies.
- Proficiency in:
- JavaScript / TypeScript frontend development
- TypeScript and/or Python backend development
- Hands-on experience developing Generative AI solutions, including:
- Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
- AI-powered application features
- Strong experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Experience managing infrastructure using Terraform.
- Solid experience designing and maintaining GitLab CI pipelines within enterprise DevOps environments.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, engineering best practices, performance optimisation and secure application development.
Nice to Have
- Experience working within the Singapore Government or other highly regulated industries.
- Experience developing legal, compliance or public sector applications.
- Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, microservices and modern DevOps practices.
