Job Description

Software Engineer Intern Fully Remote | Full-time | Paid

Our Mission: To change how organizations work. Trao is an AI R&D lab for mid-market and enterprise companies. We research, design, build, and deploy software and AI systems.

We've delivered work across industries, including:

  1. Large banks such as CommBank (one of Australia's largest banks)
  2. The UK Government
  3. US-based family offices
  4. Numerous VC-backed startups

Behind the scenes is a team obsessed with over-delivering extremely high-quality work every single day. We are engineering-first, detail-oriented, and focused on solving real business problems through automation that most teams would consider impossible.

We work on very ambitious projects.

Work Style & Expectations

  1. 6 days a week, 9 hours/day
  2. Fully remote
  3. More often than not, you will work beyond 9 hours
  4. Fast timelines, real deadlines, real ownership
  5. Daily collaboration with a small, strong team of engineers solving complex problems

If you are NOT deeply passionate about coding and systems thinking, this role will not be a good fit.

What You'll Do

  1. Build and ship features on production-grade MERN systems
  2. Contribute to multi-agent AI workflows (orchestration, memory, tools)
  3. Support DevOps and infrastructure: deployments, CI/CD, monitoring
  4. Help design scalable APIs, async pipelines, and clear system boundaries
  5. Debug production issues alongside senior engineers
  6. Take ownership of well-scoped engineering problems from day one

Tech Stack (You Should Be Strong Here)

  1. MERN stack
  2. AI / Agents: LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, custom orchestration
  3. DevOps: Docker, CI/CD pipelines, AWS / GCP / DigitalOcean

Who We're Looking For

  1. Genuine love for coding
  2. Experience building and shipping real projects (academic, personal, or professional)
  3. Strong systems thinker with solid engineering fundamentals
  4. Comfortable taking ownership and learning infrastructure on the job
  5. High ownership, high stamina, high standards

How to Apply If you truly believe you are a good fit, email [Confidential Information] with:

  1. A 5-line description of the most technical system you've built
  2. The exact stack behind it
  3. Your LinkedIn profile and/or resume
