This role is part of the Commercial Card Management engineering team, responsible for building and optimizing the customer-facing web experiences that power acquisition and onboarding for Commercial customers globally.

As a Software Engineer III, you will be a frontend-focused individual contributor who designs, builds, and maintains performant, accessible, and resilient web applications that directly impact customer conversion and experience.

You will work closely with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and analytics partners to deliver high-quality user experiences while continuing to deepen your technical expertise and expand your mentorship impact within the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain modern frontend applications with a focus on performance, accessibility, scalability, and reliability.

  • Build intuitive, responsive user interfaces that meet business requirements while delivering an exceptional customer experience across devices and browsers.

  • Collaborate with UX/design partners to translate wireframes and prototypes into high-quality production code.

  • Integrate frontend applications with backend services and APIs, ensuring robust data handling, error management, and resilience.

  • Contribute to architectural discussions around frontend patterns, state management, performance optimization, and API design tradeoffs.

  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code that adheres to established standards and frontend best practices.

  • Contribute to and improve automated testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.

  • Review code for accuracy, quality, accessibility, and maintainability, providing constructive feedback and helping elevate overall engineering excellence.

  • Monitor and improve application performance using observability tools, analytics, and real-user metrics.

  • Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers through pairing, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.

  • Participate in Agile development practices such as sprint planning, stand-ups, demos, and retrospectives.

Education and Knowledge

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or comparable practical experience.

  • Strong understanding of modern frontend architecture and design patterns.

  • Knowledge of web fundamentals including HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, browser rendering, and performance optimization.

  • Understanding of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and responsive design principles.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools, and modern DevOps practices for frontend applications.

Work Experience and Qualifications

  • Professional experience in frontend software engineering, building customer-facing web applications.

  • Experience with modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React or similar component-based frameworks).

  • Experience integrating with RESTful APIs and backend services.

  • Experience implementing automated testing (unit, integration, and end-to-end).

  • Experience applying code quality, performance optimization, and maintainability standards in a team environment.

  • Experience working in Agile software development environments (Scrum and/or Kanban).

  • Experience working in high-traffic or conversion-focused environments is a plus.
