About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer (SDE III) to help build high-impact systems from the ground up. In this role, you will work closely with the CTO, Principal Architect, and core leadership team, owning architecture, system design, infrastructure, and end-to-end delivery.

This role is designed for builders — engineers who thrive in ambiguity, take full ownership, and enjoy solving complex technical challenges at scale. There is no micromanagement — only autonomy, accountability, and the opportunity to create meaningful impact.

If you are execution-focused, highly driven, and aspire to grow into an Engineering Leader, Architect, or future Tech Founder, this is a rare opportunity to accelerate your journey.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead Backend Development

Drive the development, optimization, and maintenance of scalable backend services with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and availability.

2. Technical Leadership

Lead complex technical initiatives end-to-end with minimal guidance. Mentor SDE I/II engineers and elevate overall engineering excellence across the team.

3. Demonstrate Technical Expertise

Exhibit deep expertise in your technical domain and establish high engineering standards through best practices, code quality, and architectural decisions.

4. Solution-Oriented Execution

Proactively identify challenges and drive practical, scalable solutions rather than merely highlighting issues.

5. Community & Brand Contribution

Actively engage with the technology community, contribute to engineering discussions, and help strengthen GoComet's employer brand to attract top talent.

6. Innovate & Improve

Continuously evaluate and improve engineering processes, tools, frameworks, and technologies to maximize efficiency and scalability.

7. Security & Compliance

Implement security best practices and ensure systems adhere to relevant compliance, governance, and operational standards.

8. Data-Driven Engineering

Leverage metrics, observability, and analytics to make informed technical decisions and drive continuous platform improvements.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of backend development experience using Ruby, Python, or Node.js
  • Strong experience building scalable and resilient backend architectures
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or MongoDB
  • Experience designing and deploying applications on cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Strong understanding of server-side architecture and the ability to write clean, testable, and reusable code
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems like Git
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within agile development teams
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership capabilities
