Procindex (Our new product) is building AI agents for accounting operations. We automate workflows across AP, AR, approvals, cash application, and ERP-connected finance processes.
We're a small startup team, so this is a high-ownership backend role. You'll work directly with the founders, ship fast, solve real customer problems, and help shape both product and engineering decisions. This is not a ticket-only job. We want someone who is comfortable with ambiguity, can move independently, and enjoys building from 0 to 1.
What working at a startup means here:
- High ownership from day one
- Fast shipping and quick iteration based on customer feedback
- Solving messy real-world problems, not just building clean internal demos
- Making pragmatic engineering decisions without overengineering
- Working across product, backend, integrations, and production issues
What you'll do:
- Build and maintain backend services and APIs
- Design systems for invoices, approvals, collections, matching, and reconciliation workflows
- Build integrations with ERPs, email systems, and third-party tools
- Work on AI agent workflows with proper guardrails, retries, logging, and fallbacks
- Improve database design, reliability, observability, and background job processing
- Debug production issues and help us move fast with early customers What we're looking for:
- 3-6 years of backend engineering experience
- Strong coding skills in TypeScript / Node.js
- Good understanding of PostgreSQL, APIs, and backend system design
- Experience with async workflows, queues, and third-party integrations
- Comfortable working in a startup environment with speed and ambiguity
- Strong ownership and ability to execute without heavy hand-holding
Nice to have:
- Experience with AI agents / LLM products
- Experience with fintech, accounting, ERP, or workflow automation products
- Experience building multi-tenant SaaS systems
- Experience working at early stage startup.
