Amazon Leo is Amazon's initiative to launch a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites to provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. The Commerce team plays a crucial role in developing and managing the systems that will enable customer acquisition, billing, and overall business operations for this service.
Note : This position may require access to information, technology, or hardware that is subject to export control laws and regulations, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Employment in this position is contingent upon obtaining any required export licenses or other approvals from the United States government. As such, the successful candidate must be eligible to obtain any necessary export licenses or approvals based on their nationality, citizenship, and any other factors considered by the applicable export control regulations.
Key job responsibilities
. Work with our peer teams and customers to design suitable software systems and interfaces.
. Develop a strategic plan for the growth of the team, both from a software services and organization perspective.
. Hire & Develop a diverse team of software engineers.
. Aid in the design of mission critical systems in Amazon Leo.
. Collaborate with your fellow team members to form a strong foundation for a software organization in Amazon Leo
. Help on-board and mentor new team members.

Amazon Leo is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Amazon Leo will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.
About the team
Amazon Leo Commerce team owns developing the architecture, solutions & roadmap for managing the customer lifecycle for telecom services for example, identity and account management, subscriber management services, user provisioning, billing and payments, customer and technical support tools, offer management tools, and customer metrics and analytics.
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
