We are seeking a talented Senior Software Development Engineer for our Live Streaming Playback team, which powers the critical encoding and packaging pipelines behind thousands of live TV channels and premium sports events globally. Our team is responsible for transforming raw video feeds into high-quality, adaptive streaming formats that deliver flawless viewing experiences across devices. From major sporting events like NFL Thursday Night Football and Premier League matches to 24/7 broadcast channels, our systems ensure millions of customers receive pristine video quality with minimal latency.

As an Sr.SDE, you'll architect and implement large-scale automation workflows that manage the setup, orchestration, and lifecycle management of live infrastructure. You'll work with both established and greenfield AWS technologies, designing backend systems that handle real-time video processing at massive scale. Your work will directly impact the quality and reliability of live streams for premier content including 4K/HDR/Dolby Atmos broadcasts, while gaining deep expertise in Prime Video's sophisticated Live platform architecture.

The ideal candidate is passionate about elegant software solutions and customer-centric products, with expertise in agile development methodologies. You'll approach challenges holistically, looking beyond team boundaries to create solutions that address strategic, business, and technical requirements. As a natural leader, you'll confidently coordinate cross-organizational initiatives, address complex technical questions, and foster collaborative outcomes. Your ability to analyze code critically and communicate effectively with executive stakeholders ensures our solutions remain reliable, scalable, and secure.

What You'll Do

Lead the design and implementation of robust encoding and packaging pipelines for live video delivery

  • Drive technical excellence in video processing and streaming technologies Architect automation systems that scale to support major global sporting events and broadcast channels
  • Mentor and develop software engineers while fostering a culture of innovation Communicate complex technical solutions to diverse stakeholders effectively
  • Collaborate with peer engineers to scope and estimate development efforts
  • Design solutions that ensure consistent high-quality video delivery across diverse network conditions Influence technical direction and adoption of industry standards in live video streaming
  • Drive data-driven decisions with conviction and diplomatic finesse
  • Contribute to the evolution of Prime Video's global streaming infrastructure

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
