Job Description: SDE2 - DevOps

Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled and motivated SDE2 with a strong DevOps background to join our team. As an SDE2 - DevOps, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and deploying highly-available, fault-tolerant systems at scale. Your primary focus will be on encouraging and implementing automated processes to streamline workflows and improve efficiency. You should have a passion for automating repetitive tasks using scripting languages like Bash, Python, Ruby, etc.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and Deploying Highly-Available Systems: You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and high availability of our systems at scale. This includes proactively monitoring the infrastructure, identifying potential issues, and implementing solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Automation: Drive automation initiatives across the organization. Work on automating repetitive tasks to increase efficiency and reduce manual intervention in the deployment and management of systems.
  • Expertise with Google Cloud Platform (GCP): You should have in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with various GCP services, including IAM (Identity and Access Management), Compute Engine, Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), and Load Balancing.
  • Version Control System: Proficiency in working with version control systems like Git is essential. You will be responsible for managing code repositories and ensuring proper versioning and collaboration within the team.
  • CI/CD Implementation: Implement and optimize continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Jenkins, TravisCI, or equivalent. Automate the build, test, and deployment processes.
  • Database Expertise: Possess experience with both relational databases (e.g., MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Redis). Ensure the proper setup, maintenance, and optimization of databases.
  • Monitoring Implementation: Implement monitoring solutions such as ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), Datadog, Prometheus, Loki, Filebeat, etc., to gain insights into system performance and troubleshoot issues effectively.
  • Effective Communication: Communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and goals.
  • Infrastructure Setup: Set up and configure the necessary tools and infrastructure required for smooth development, testing, and deployment processes.
  • DevOps Processes: Define and establish development, testing, release, update, and support processes for seamless DevOps operations.
  • Cybersecurity Measures: Collaborate with the security team to deploy appropriate cybersecurity measures. Conduct vulnerability assessments and risk management regularly.
  • Incident Management: Handle incident management, including root cause analysis, to identify and resolve system issues promptly.
  • Kubernetes and GKE: Demonstrate experience and expertise in Kubernetes and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) to manage containerized applications efficiently.
  • Bridging Dev and Ops Gap: Understand the requirements gap between development and operations teams and provide effective solutions to streamline collaboration and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 4-6 years of experience in a DevOps role or a related field.
  • Strong experience with GCP services (IAM, Compute Engine, VPC, LB).
  • Proficiency in version control systems, particularly Git.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, TravisCI, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with MySQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Redis).
  • Solid scripting skills using Bash, Python, Ruby, or similar languages.
  • Experience in implementing monitoring solutions like ELK, Datadog, Prometheus, Loki, Filebeat, etc.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) is a plus.
  • Proven ability to work in a vibrant, charged-up, and motivated team culture.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
