Job Description

The simulation environment is integral to the Ovation distributed control system. These simulators are used for operator training, engineering analysis/design/testing and in the future will be utilized in novel real-time applications as an integrated part of the Ovation DCS. The models themselves will consist of the differential/algebraic equations that describe the steady state, transient and startup/cold conditions of the equipment being modeled. The ideal candidate would have extensive experience with software development methods in simulation, control, or other equivalent engineering applications.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Collaborate with mathematical model designers to integrate plant equipment model designs into the Ovation environment.
  • Implement models (equations, structures, architecture) in .NET (C#)
  • Fix bugs and add new features to existing models.
  • Support project engineering teams in debugging software related issues.
  • Develop and expand existing product features.
  • Produce design documents, user documentation etc.
  • Build and deliver solutions that meet internal and external stakeholder requirements & customer expectations.
  • Provide timely and helpful information to individuals across the organization.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Outstanding .NET development skills and experience
  • 4-7 years experience with at least 3 years in simulation software development
  • Strong experience in related software development
  • Experience with Microsoft Team Foundation Server or equivalent source code control system
  • Knowledge of Physics
  • Knowledge of numerical methods for solving differential/algebraic equations

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, related engineering discipline or equivalent
  • Experience with development of numerical intensive simulation/engineering/physics applications
  • Knowledge of power plants
  • Knowledge of control theory and/or power plant control experience
  • Excellent English written and verbal skills.
