We are seeking an experienced Principle Software Engineer who enjoys building complex, highly technical products and services from ground up. As a member of the HDI, you will help us define the future of services used daily by both customers and internal teams.
Building off our Cloud momentum, Oracle has formed a new organization - Health Data Intelligence. This team will focus on product development and product strategy for Oracle Health, while building out a complete platform supporting modernized, automated healthcare. This is a net new line of business, constructed with an entrepreneurial spirit that promotes an energetic and creative environment. Oracle Health Data Apps has a rare opportunity to play a critical role in how Oracle Health products impact and disrupt the healthcare industry by transforming how healthcare and technology intersect.
Responsibilities:
As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications. You will perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.
You will use your problem-solving abilities to develop innovative solutions to real business problems with internet-scale data. You will succeed by coupling critical thinking with self-motivation, passion and determination and working effectively with your teammates. Team will lookup up-to this person for technical guidance, coaching, mentoring and for innovation.
- Design and build distributed, scalable, and fault-tolerant software systems.
- Build cloud services on top of the modern OCI infrastructure.
- Participate in the entire software lifecycle, from design to development, to quality assurance, and to production.
- Invest in the best engineering and operational practices upfront to ensure our software quality bar is high.
- Leverage a plethora of internal tooling at OCI to develop, build, deploy, and troubleshoot software.
About You

- You have 9 or more years of experience as a developer and 3 or more years of experience as a tech lead
- You have 6 or more years of experience with an object oriented back end language (Java)
- You have 5 or more years of experience with JavaScript and a major UI framework (React, Angular, etc)
- You know how to design applications using sound design principles
- You have an in-depth understanding of product development complexities
- You understand, have written, and have consumed RESTful APIs
- You have built cloud based multi-tenant products/services in one of OCI, AWS, Azure or GCP environments
- You know how to create a web service start to finish, from database design to application design to API design
- You know how to implement a mockup as well as business logic
- You routinely write unit, integration, and UI tests for your code (and know the difference!)
- You know what SOLID stands for and routinely apply it in your code
- You know what idempotence, pure functions, and functional chains are, and routinely apply them in your code
- You understand the difference between Monolithic, Microservice, and Serverless architectures
- You're familiar with Continuous Integration / Delivery principles and practices
- You enjoy mentoring and learning from others
- You learn new concepts and technologies on your own (at work or otherwise)
