Brain Bristle is a not-for-profit foundation for autism, education and inclusion currently based in Mumbai. The organization trains Social Workers in Autism and Inclusion and places them to work in low-income schools of Mumbai to promote equitable education, accessibility and inclusivity for students on the autism spectrum & other high learning needs. Brain Bristle also builds inclusion at the school level and large scale advocacy and awareness for the cause to spread reach.

Role Description

This is a 1 year, 4-5 hour/day, training & on-site Field-Work opportunity for a Social Worker at Brain Bristle in Mumbai.

The Social Worker will be trained 16-18 hours/ month in autism and education. He/ she will then be responsible for teaching, writing, guiding, planning for and facilitating Individualized Educational Plans for students on the autism spectrum and other high learning needs across Mumbai low income schools; building inclusion in the classrooms and schools they work at; collaborating with staff to implement inclusion strategies; conducting formal and informal assessments, and developing holistic, future-facing plans and progress for their students.

Minimum Requirements:

• Good with children
• Open to learning, supervision, weekly rigorous training and implementing a variety of teaching and autism strategies.
• Strong communication, organizational, time management and interpersonal skills
• Passionate about school systems, education systems, communities, and circles of care.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders.
• Committed to children's mental and holistic health
• Bachelor's degree in social Work, psychology, counselling, arts, teaching, education or a related field
• Experience with teaching or social work/ mental health work including work with students with special needs is a plus.

Stipend:

This is a 1-Academic Year Training and Social Work Commitment toward autism inclusion and equitable education with work at Mumbai's low income schools. The field work provides a stipend of Rs.12,000 and a resource reimbursement allowance for your learning and work toward the cause.
