About the Role
We are looking for a creative, witty, and culturally aware Social Media Specialist who can connect with Indian-origin restaurant owners in the US, especially Telugu-speaking owners. The specialist will be responsible for creating engaging, humorous, and highly shareable content that uses Telugu movie clips, cultural references, memes, and witty copywriting to grab attention and build brand affinity for Varun Digital Media.
This role requires a mix of content creation, editing skills, social media strategy, and strong knowledge of Indian/Telugu pop culture to attract our target audience and convert them into clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Creation & Curation
- Create witty, humorous posts, memes, and reels using Telugu movie clips, dialogues, and cultural trends.
- Repurpose content into formats that resonate with restaurant owners (Instagram Reels, Facebook posts, X/Twitter threads, LinkedIn snippets).
- Write captions and copy that blend humour, wit, and marketing angles to promote Varun Digital Media's services.
Cultural Relevance
- Stay updated with Telugu movie trends, dialogues, and viral moments.
- Build content that resonates emotionally with Indian (especially Telugu) restaurant owners in the US.
- Incorporate NRI nostalgia and business humour that speaks to their lifestyle and struggles.
Social Media Strategy & Engagement
- Develop monthly content calendars tailored to the US Indian restaurant community.
- Monitor engagement and conversations, responding in a witty yet professional tone.
- Use humour as a hook but connect it to business solutions.
Video & Clip Editing
- Source Telugu movie clips (public domain/fair use clips where possible) and edit them into short-form content with subtitles, overlays, and branding.
- Add witty context (text overlays, dialogues, comparisons) that makes the clips relatable for restaurant owners.
Performance & Reporting
- Track content performance across platforms.
- Optimize strategies based on engagement, shares, and conversion rates.
- Suggest new formats (short skits, user-generated content, duets, trends).
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong command of English & Telugu (writing + speaking).
- Excellent sense of humour and creativity in content writing.
- Familiarity with Telugu movies, pop culture, and memes.
- Proven experience in social media marketing/content creation.
- Skills in video editing tools (CapCut, Premiere Pro, After Effects, or similar).
- Ability to craft witty captions and short scripts.
- Understanding of US-based Indian/Telugu community mindset and lifestyle.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in targeting restaurant, food, or hospitality businesses.
- Previous work in meme marketing or humour-driven content.
- Knowledge of NRI (Non-Resident Indian) cultural references.
