About BharatGen

India has 1.4 billion people. Over a billion of them don't communicate primarily in English. Yet almost every AI system in the world was built as if they do.

BharatGen exists to change that.

We are India's first government-funded sovereign AI initiative, building foundational multimodal large language models across 22+ Indic languages, spanning text, speech, and document vision. We are a Section 8 not-for-profit, backed by the Department of Science and Technology and the IndiaAI Mission (MeitY), and spearheaded by IIT Bombay alongside a consortium of India's most respected institutions including IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIIT Hyderabad, and IIM Indore.

We are not building another app. We are building the infrastructure that will define how a billion Indians interact with AI, in their own languages, on their own terms.

Our models, Param2, Shrutam2, Sooktam2, and Patram, are live and being deployed across governance, healthcare, education, and enterprise sectors right now.

The Opportunity

BharatGen is doing work that matters at a national scale, and most people don't know about it yet. That's where you come in.

We are looking for a Social Media Executive to own our presence across LinkedIn, X, YouTube, and the communities where India's AI and developer conversations actually happen. Your job is not just to publish. It is to participate, to show up as a genuine voice in the spaces that matter, and to help us tell this story to the people who need to hear it: enterprise leaders, policymakers, researchers, developers, and anyone who cares about what AI in India should look like.

This is a founding team opportunity. You will be among the first marketing hires at one of India's most significant AI initiatives, helping build the function from zero. Real ownership, real visibility, and strong growth potential for the right person.

What you will do

  • Own and manage BharatGen's content calendar across LinkedIn, X, and YouTube
  • Write and publish posts, threads, and short-form content that are sharp, clear, and mission-aligned
  • Actively participate in relevant communities and forums including HuggingFace, Reddit, Hacker News, and developer spaces, as a genuine voice, not just a brand account
  • Monitor and engage with cultural moments, trending conversations, and discourse in India's tech and AI ecosystem, and know how to make BharatGen part of that conversation
  • Create basic visual assets on Canva and brief the Visual Designer on campaign creatives
  • Produce basic video and reels content for LinkedIn and YouTube
  • Track performance, spot what's working, and iterate
  • Work closely with the Head of Marketing on campaigns, announcements, and storytelling

What are we looking for

  • 1-3 years of experience in social media, content, or communications
  • You live online, not in a passive scrolling way but in an actively engaged, always-in-the-know way. You understand what 6AM on LinkedIn looks like versus 9PM on X. You knew what the cultural moment was last week and can already tell us what it'll be next week
  • You write well in English and can adapt your voice across formats and platforms. Hindi or any Indic language is a genuine plus
  • You are fluent across LinkedIn, X, and YouTube, and comfortable showing up in developer communities like HuggingFace, Reddit, and Hacker News
  • You are self-driven, can own a content calendar, and stay consistent without being chased
  • You are comfortable with Canva, scheduling tools, and basic analytics
  • You are a tech-savvy storyteller who finds India's AI landscape genuinely exciting, not just professionally interesting

Good to have

  • You have covered technical, research, or policy topics rather than consumer brands
  • You have built something of your own, a newsletter, an account, a community, anything that shows you understand what makes content work
  • You come from a computer science, engineering, or technical background and made the switch to communications or social media, or are enthusiastic about AI, deep tech, open-source, or developer ecosystems.
