Role Overview

We are looking for a Social Media Video Director who can conceptualise and execute high-impact, platform-native video content for digital-first brands.

This role requires a strong understanding of storytelling, performance-driven content formats, internet culture, and rapid production cycles. The ideal candidate will be responsible for translating creative ideas into engaging visual narratives across formats such as Reels, Shorts, YouTube videos, brand films, influencer content, and social campaigns. This role blends creative direction, on-ground shoot leadership, and content sensibility suited for fast-moving social ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

1. Creative Direction & Conceptualisation

Interpret creative briefs and collaborate with content strategists and writers to develop strong video narratives.

Ideate and shape platform-native storytelling formats that align with brand tone and audience behaviour.

Develop visual treatments, storytelling approaches, and execution styles for socialfirst campaigns. Ensure content remains culturally relevant, engaging, and optimized for digital consumption.

2. Pre-Production Planning

Lead script breakdowns, shot planning, and visual referencing for shoots.

Work closely with Assistant Directors, Production Managers, DoPs, stylists, and art teams to align on execution.

Participate in casting decisions, location scouting, and creative approvals.

Define shooting styles handheld, cinematic, documentary, performance-led, etc.

3. On-Ground Shoot Execution

Direct talent, creators, and actors during shoots to achieve desired performances and pacing.

Lead on-set storytelling decisions, framing choices, and scene blocking.

Ensure efficient shoot execution within tight timelines and budget constraints.

Maintain energy, clarity, and creative focus across teams during high-volume shoot days.

4. Post-Production & Content Finalisation

Collaborate with editors, motion designers, and sound teams to shape final outputs.

Guide edit pacing, transitions, storytelling structure, and visual continuity.

Review multiple cutdowns, versions, and adaptations for different platforms.

Ensure final content aligns with both creative vision and platform performance goals.

5. Trend Awareness & Innovation

Stay updated on social media trends, creator formats, viral storytelling techniques, and content aesthetics.

Bring new execution styles, transitions, and narrative structures into campaigns.

Experiment with emerging formats such as reactive content, POV storytelling, lo-fi formats, and real-time content. 6. Stakeholder & Client Collaboration

Present creative ideas and visual approaches to internal teams and clients.

Build trust with creators, influencers, and brand stakeholders.

Support business and account teams in creative pitches and campaign ideation. Key Skills & Competencies

Strong storytelling instincts and visual sensibility

Deep understanding of social media video formats and audience behaviour.

Ability to direct both scripted and unscripted content effectively.

Experience managing fast-paced shoot environments and multiple projects simultaneously.

Strong collaboration and leadership skills.

Ability to balance creative ambition with executional practicality.

Comfortable working with influencers, creators, and performance-driven content teams.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree or diploma in Filmmaking, Media, Communication, or related field.

48 years of experience directing digital content, branded films, or social media video campaigns. Proven portfolio/showreel showcasing platform-native storytelling.

Experience working in creative agencies, production houses, or content studios is highly preferred.
