Job Description

A Civil Site Supervisor plays a crucial role in the successful completion of civil engineering projects such as roads, bridges, buildings, drainage systems, and other infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of Site Activities:Overseeing the daily operations of construction activities, ensuring that all work is being carried out according to design specifications and safety standards.
  • Coordinating and managing labor forces, subcontractors, and material suppliers on-site.
  • Quality Control:Ensuring that the construction work meets the required quality standards and compliance with local building codes and regulations.
  • Conducting inspections of the work to identify issues and ensuring corrective measures are taken.
  • Safety Management:Promoting and enforcing safety protocols on-site, conducting safety inspections, and ensuring the team follows safety procedures.
  • Reporting and investigating any accidents or incidents on-site.
  • Project Documentation:Keeping accurate records of site activities, progress, material usage, and personnel.
  • Assisting in the preparation of daily, weekly, or monthly progress reports for the project manager.
  • Resource Management:Ensuring that all materials, tools, and equipment needed for the project are available and properly maintained.
  • Managing the workforce and scheduling labor to optimize efficiency.
  • Problem Solving:Addressing and resolving issues that arise during construction, whether technical, logistical, or personnel-related.
  • Communicating and liaising with engineers, architects, and project managers to resolve problems and keep the project on track.

Skills Required:

  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and building codes.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to manage and motivate workers and subcontractors.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with workers, contractors, engineers, and clients.

Qualifications:

Typically, a Civil Site Supervisor has a background in civil engineering or construction management. This could include:

  • Several years of experience working on construction sites, particularly in roles like site engineer or foreman.
