Job Summary
The Shift In-Charge will be responsible for overseeing complete plant operations during the assigned shift at the edible oil refinery located in Samalaya, Vadodara. The role requires independent handling of production, manpower, safety, and coordination across departments. The Shift In-Charge will act as the overall factory authority when General Shift management is not present.
Key ResponsibilitiesPlant Operations & Production
- Supervise and control refinery operations during the shift (neutralization, bleaching, deodorization, packing, utilities, etc.)
- Ensure production targets, quality standards, and process parameters are met
- Identify and resolve operational issues to ensure uninterrupted plant functioning
Manpower & Shift Management
- Manage operators, helpers, and contract staff during the shift
- Allocate duties, ensure discipline, and conduct proper shift handovers
- Maintain attendance and smooth coordination across teams
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to safety norms for chemicals, hot oil, and machinery
- Follow SOPs, GMP, and food safety standards
- Report and manage breakdowns, safety incidents, and quality deviations
Coordination & Reporting
- Coordinate with Maintenance, Stores, Quality Control, and Packing departments
- Prepare shift reports, production logs, and incident reports
- Use MS Excel and MS Word for documentation and reporting
Responsibility During General Shift Absence
- Handle entire factory operations independently once General Shift management leaves
- Take responsible operational decisions to maintain safety and production continuity
- Escalate critical matters to senior management when required
Required Skills & ExperienceExperience
- Minimum 4 years of experience in an edible oil refinery or similar process industry (chemical, food processing, petrochemical, etc.)
Technical & Software Skills
- Strong understanding of refinery processes and utilities
- Good working knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word
- Ability to follow SOPs and understand process flow diagrams
