Job Description

Role Overview

The SharePoint Administrator will be responsible for overseeing the migration of SharePoint from 2007 to the latest version, ensuring smooth implementation, configuration, and ongoing administration. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SharePoint migrations, installations, licensing, and user training. The SharePoint Admin will also be the go-to resource for resolving user issues and maintaining a high-performing, secure SharePoint environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Migration:
  • Lead the migration process from SharePoint 2007 to the latest SharePoint version, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Plan, configure, and execute the migration, ensuring all documents, workflows, and permissions are correctly transferred.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve migration issues, ensuring data integrity throughout the process.
  • Document the migration process and create reports for stakeholders.
  • Installation & Configuration:
  • Install and configure SharePoint Server (on-premise or cloud) in line with company needs and best practices.
  • Manage licensing, ensure compliance, and handle upgrades and patches.
  • Configure SharePoint sites, libraries, lists, and permissions to meet the company's collaboration needs.
  • Admin & Support:
  • Monitor and manage SharePoint performance to ensure the system runs efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve SharePoint issues, including user access, performance, and system errors.
  • Manage and enforce SharePoint governance policies, including security and compliance.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance and support to the SharePoint environment.
  • Training & Documentation:
  • Develop and deliver training sessions for internal users to ensure proper adoption and utilization of SharePoint.
  • Create and maintain user manuals, training guides, and documentation to assist employees in using SharePoint effectively.
  • Provide ongoing user support and training to address new features or updates.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Proven experience with SharePoint migrations from SharePoint 2007 to current versions (SharePoint 2013, 2016, 2019, or SharePoint Online).
  • Strong knowledge of SharePoint installation and configuration, including system setup, licensing, and patch management.
  • Experience with SharePoint Server (on-premise) and SharePoint Online (Office 365).
  • Experience in SharePoint site design, workflows, document management, and collaboration tools.
  • Expertise in managing permissions, user access, and security in SharePoint.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for SharePoint issues.
  • Experience with SharePoint Backup, Restore, and Disaster Recovery procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to train and support end-users effectively.
  • Ability to document processes and create user-friendly guides and training materials.

Desired Skills

  • SharePoint certification (e.g., Microsoft Certified: SharePoint Administrator Associate).
  • Knowledge of PowerShell scripting for SharePoint management.
  • Experience with third-party SharePoint tools and add-ons.
  • Familiarity with Office 365 suite, including integration with SharePoint.
  • Experience with SharePoint migration tools like ShareGate or Metalogix.
