To supervise the emulsion parameters in order to ensure that all parameters regarding emulsion in HRM and HFM are within control limits, monitor stage wise recovery startingfrom scalper to hot mill through RCA for low recovery lots, and ensure proper inventory management and housekeeping in emulsion area.
Job Context:
The FRP of Hindalco Industries Limited at Hirakud has a Hot Mill, a Cold Mill, and a Finishing Line operating as self-contained units handling both operations and maintenance, supported by a Central Maintenance function and Planning and Warehouse function as well as Human Resources, IT and Finance, comprising Accounts, Purchase and Commercial functions. The Hot Mill receives aluminium ingots from the casthouse of the Smelter at Hirakud. The Hot line has a three stage operation. The 1st stage is scalping which involves removal of surface impurities from the aluminum ingots through milling to produce the desired surface finish prior to rolling. The 2nd stage is soaking where the ingots are soaked for 16 to 24 hours at specified temperature to achieve desired quality parameters in the ingot through the heat treatment process. The 3rd stage is hot rolling to reduce thickness of the aluminium ingot and transform it to an aluminium slab of desired thickness and other quality specifications. Part of the output of the Hot Mill is to be dispatched to other downstream units Hindalco at Renukoot and Belur and part goes to the cold mill after the specified wait for further processing.
The key deliverable of the role is process monitoring of production at the Hot Finishing Mill (HFM) to ensure quality compliance. It involves converting transfer bar to final output of Hot Mill (Coil) as per requirement for supply to cold mill. Critical aspects are ensuring checking all parameters of the input and output materials as well as the process at each stage of production impacting the output having stipulated quality parameters. Critical aspect of the role is monitoring input quality and in process quality towards maintaining the specified yield including FPY (First Part Yield) and maximising recovery.
This role is required to monitor equipment downtime and process problems across the Hot Finishing Mill (HFM) by undertaking Root Cause Analysis, breakdown analysis and also review of preventive maintenance schedule to suggest changes and suggest necessary upgradation of equipment
This role is required to implement compliance of all quality, safety, health, environment parameters, IMS norms and statutory stipulations, impart training to the team and facilitate improvement initiatives towards sustainability.

o Sourcing spare parts and developing skills in the backward location of the plant for the gigantic equipment, unique in India
